Any way to get into TWRP if I'm stuck on the boot animation? I think I forgot to restore my boot partition when I flashed a new ROM and restored my data, and it's stuck. I know I can restore back to stock and start over, but that's a pain I'd like to avoid if at all possible.
this is a little bit tricky but it does work

Simultaneously press and hold the power and volume down buttons.
When the LG logo shows up, release the power button only.
Now press and hold the power and volume up button while keeping your hold on the volume down button.
When the factory reset screen appears, release your hold on all buttons.
Press the power button to continue.
Press the power button again to confirm ,that will bring you back into recovery.

I've tried that, but it doesn't work. When I release the power button, then press it and volume up, the tablet just turns off. Also, download mode has stopped working for some reason. I'm holding volume up and volume down while inserting the usb cable, but it just tries to boot rather than enter download mode. Something up with my volume buttons, maybe? Download mode worked before, so I'm not sure why it's not working now.

Edit: Download mode is working again. Weird. Volume buttons must just be extremely touchy for some reason.

This work like a charm. It's tricky and it doesn't work every time I try. I'm sure it is my fault though.

Have to say big thanks to the OP and everyone else involved in getting rid of LG's software in favour of TWRP and CM11. Makes my G Pad feel ... better :)

So I figured out why I was having so much trouble - my volume up key is dead. Time to return tablet #2...

I've installed TWRP 2.6.3.2 and CM11 Milestone 2 and my external SD card can't be mounted. I'm not sure if it's a recovery problem or ROM probleme..

Edit : I falshed recovery again and updated Mileston M2 to the nightly of 01052014 Now, it's ok.

I was able to flash this recovery easily using flashify and this is probably the second easiest recovery flashing i have done , next to using Mobile Odin.

@Drgravy - Dont you thing if you just include the a IMG file and a instruction in the OP to flash using flashify will solve most of the questions here?

AND thanks for supporting this device, its really sad to see less than 10 forums within "Android Development".

I intend to buy a lg pad 8.3 and cm11 is essential for me. So just to make sure: after rooting the device, I have to flash the appropriate twrp-recovery according to the firmware on my lg pad 8.3. (twrp versions available for device software version V50010a, V50010c or V50010e). What if I get a device with a newer / other revision? Is it possible to flash the recovery.img inside "twrp Flashable zip v2.6.3.2" directly using flashify without doing the loki-stuff ?

This is not working for me.

When I run the first command, I get an "error: device not found". My GPad is connected and detected by windows. LG drivers are installed.

Any help?

Nevermind. I didn't have USB debugging enabled. Recovery installed and backing up! :D

I just did the root script option which went really smooth. I then took a stab at using flashify after I aceived root. I can confirm on my v50010a that this works. I downloaded the v50010a version of twrp.lok transferred to my external SD as is I didn't change the extension. I also downloaded the new version of twrp the .2 flashable zip file. I downloaded flashify selected recovery navigated to my SD card to the twrp.lok file agreed to the terms ran it a few seconds later it asked to reboot to recovery .. Bam I was in .0 twrp. I then flashed .2 twrp zip rebooted into recovery and all is well.
This should help with people who can't get the button combos to work.

I flashed Flashable zip v2.6.3.2 using Flashify, then rebooted. A dead android guy with a triangle on his chest was on the screen when I rebooted. I held the power down and it then restarted fine. How do I know TWRP flashed ok?

Never give up! Took me 3 unintentional hard resets to figure it out but I got it :) Downloaded the 2.6.3.0 img from twrp, downloaded the 2.6.3.2 zip, Flashifyed the 2.6.3.0, then when it was done I rebooted directly into twrp then flashed 2.6.3.2 from inside the twrp recovery and BOOM it worked.
