TWRP Recovery for Samsung Galaxy J5.

Installation

1. Download TWRP from Downloads below, install device USB drivers and Odin 3.10.7.
2. Power off the device.
3. Boot to download mode (VOLUME DOWN/HOME/POWER).
4. Volume UP once.
5. Open Odin 3.10.7 as an administrator, connect the device to a usb port,
and make sure a blue button appears and says "Added" in description on the left.
6. Select AP or PDA for older Odin and search for the downloaded tar file.
7. Uncheck auto reboot from the second tab.
8. Start flash and you should see the succeeded command.
9. Unplug the device and long press POWER until it powers off or remove the battery.
10. Reboot to TWRP and enjoy! (VOLUME UP/HOME/POWER).

If your device is not listed, then it is not supported yet.
DON'T flash anything until we make progress for your variant.


If you flash the stock MM secure bootloaders (aboot.mbn, sbl1.mbn) from official update, or ODIN,
obviously this recovery won't work anymore. Consider using a custom 5.1.1 ROM instead

Yes it is. Check the date. Κυρ 25 Σεπ 2016 02:52:39 πμ EEST is equal to Sunday 25 September 2016.

Info about next update

Hello everyone! I have added the following options for you in the next recovery update.

Backup Options:
- Backup EFS partition. (IMEI and firmware related)
- Backup Persist partition. (Bluetooth and firmware related)
- Backup Modem partition.
- Backup Firmware partition.


Wiping Options:
- Wipe Hidden partition. (Samsung bloatware)

I'm testing these right after building them. Any other opinion is welcome!

Does it increase the data/internal partition or root partition if you wipe the hidden and persistent partitions?

Modifying partitions is possible through "parted". Wiping Hidden could bypass the samsung bloatware loading in first boot on Stock ROMs, and formatting Persistent could fix the FRP locks. But I see now that formatting EMMC partition is not possible! (Stupid mistake of mine) I will keep the Hidden wiping option only because it is ext4. Persistent partition is bypassed in CM-12.1 from source anyway.

TWRP has been updated to newest version with the following added features:

Wiping options:
- Support to wipe Hidden partition in recovery. (Samsung's bloatware loading)

Backup options:
- Support to backup existing recovery.
- Support to backup Modem.
- Support to backup Firmware.
- Support to backup EFS.

Miscellaneous:
- Battery management improvements.
- UI scrolling/display improvements.
- Kernel stability fixes.
- Change external SD mounting name to "sdcard1", just like in CyanogenMod.

Also moved download links to Android File Host for stability reasons.
