if i check wipe internal, do i have to still check cache, dalvik, data. I just want to erase everything on my internal but I am afraid my device to be unbootable or unusable.

First of all thanks for your hard work not only with TWRP but throughout the tab 3 8.0

Question, I have a TWRP file on my internal storage that is 1.77 gb and one on my external SD card that is 2.22 gb. Are both of these necessary they seem to each have a similar backup file.

Thanks

Small issue here. I installed BinDroid rom yesterday and updated my twrp today and something happened to my data partition.

The size for the data partition is shown as a 13 digit number which is obviously wrong

* Total size of all data: 7173502812457MB

I attached the twrp log too. My guess is corrupted partition?

Edit: forgot to add, the tablet boots and works normally, reading and writing. I just cant back anything up

How do you make it boot into recovery? I think it installed correctly, but I can;t get to boot into it, it still goes to the download mode.

If you installed it correctly, when the tab is of press and hold the volume up and press the power button until the boot logo appears and then let go of the volume up and the power button. It should then boot into recovery mode.

In regards to TWRP 2.8.0.0,
I just compiled it, but the MTP feature does not work. It appears that TWRP is setting up an MTP connection, but it is not recognized correctly by the PC. This seems to be an issue with many devices right now.

Also, since the MTP feature is enabled by default on boot into recovery, it prevents adb commands from working until it is toggled by the user.

I think I will hold off releasing for a little longer to see if they come up with a fix.

2.8.0.0 not working verry well on Tab 2. Best TWRP have been 2.6.3 compiled in January.

On 2.8 also sometimes TWRP seems to crash ui sometimes - touch not working correctly then. meight be related to MTP changes. Happened to me after wipeing everything Incl. Internal storage. Also reported by some user.

I used this method to root my Tab 3 8.0 and save backups. I tried one custom Rom as well a while back (Paranoid Android) but missed some of the native features. I need to send my Tab back because of a hardware issued (buttons stopped working). How do I re-flash the stock bootloader? (I did try searching for this info.) I have gr8nole's version of Odin.

Just download the stock firmware from sammobile.com and flash with Odin.

Thanks! The problem I'm running into is that there is no U.S KitKat Stock firmware on sammobile.com. Canada seems to be the closest. I tried an older U.S firmware and I get an "invalid magic string" error. I'll probably try the Canadian firmware since I can always go back to TWRP if it doesn't work.

The Cellular South version is for the US. I have no idea why they list it as Cellular South, but it is the US version for T310 (wifi only).

IMG SNIPPED...

NOTE: The new MTP feature of TWRP causes issues with ADB access while in recovery. You may need to toggle "Disable MTP" a from the "mounts" menu to get ADB access.
Hi, sorry to bother you @gr8nole, do you think you could update this to the latest 2.8.3.0 as it was just released?

Just when you have the time...

Thanks :good:

What's new in 2.8.3.0:
MTP fixes and improvements - you can now copy zips to the root of storage - thanks to _that
MTP will now tell the host PC that storage is removed instead of disabling MTP completely
MTP will now report the correct max file size based on the file system in use to the host PC (may fix transfer of large files)
Update and improve fix permissions and make fixing contexts optional
Update SuperSU in TWRP to 2.40 and update install process
Make TWRP work properly on AArch64 (Nexus 9 is now built in true 64-bit binaries and libraries)
Attempt to set correct permissions and contexts on all files placed in storage so backups will show in Android
Fix kernel panic during MTP start on some devices
Support unicode fonts on devices with True Type Font support
Fix slider value not showing sometimes (vibration settings page)
Toggle MTP off during adb sideload to set correct USB IDs
Reduce library requirements for 5.0 L decrypt
Other minor fixes and improvements

@gr8nole

Only just tried out your latest version of TWRP, seems screen brightness is broken again in v2.8.2.0, I remember it breaking once before in a older build, reverting back to v2.7.1.0 brightness works.
