Firmware is ready for release - need to retool instructions, and am waiting on new charging images from our design guy - then I'll do a release thread.

This is amazing news! Even if cameras don't work out. Would be amazing to see new software giving how powerful the chip is inside of the tablet.

answered my own question, no it doesn't. Probably needs to be recompiled against the same kernel that the lineage16.0 build is. Or some other edit.

Now I try to install npjohnson's rom ttps://forum.xda-developers.com/shi...-atap-t4177581 following the instructions to the point. But I am getting stuck with installing the superuser via towelroot . It says this telephone is not supported. How did you manage to obtain su. I read that towelroot works on the stockrombecauses it uses a fault in the code. How did you got around this obstacle?

In addition I am facing temporary problems with adb, where I get sometimes error: device '(null)' not found

If it works I get stuck here

Thanks to highwaystar_ru I was able to install twrp and then lineage 14.1 with Open GApps pico.
I hope that somebody will be able to bring this to 15.1

Is there anybody out there to tell me how to gain root access with this 14.1 Rom installed? Tried towelroot, but it does not work" ...not for this phone.."

as much time as it took to get LINEAGE 16 to work and work correctly, i am curious , did you experience any of the TANGO (yellowstone) devices that were stock (not rooted, or tweaked) but different from each other ?

-i have seen 3 separate boot animations on these tablets, one spins the icon, another splits the icon into 40 little cubes and then re-combines them, and the most recent one , the tango icon splits off into fireworks then appears again just to repeat the firework action again.

-there are a few auction sites that sell these tablets for about 50 bucks PLUS a few dollars more for shipping, which to me seems like a great deal. is there any way to dig into the factory image to find changes the previous owners made? (stock - rooted 4.4) i ask this because using a FILE EXPLORER , every one of these devices i have,seems to have things left over from previous users .(short of a full IMAGE decompile)

(weird fact, but the battery in these is aged, but after a few tests on a CADEX, shows 95% life left or higher, of the ones i have picked up. This tells me these were used perhaps 30-40 times at most.) <two tablets i picked up and tested the battery actually gave a 99%battery rating, meaning these weren't used>

PS: PROJECT TANGO is a easy device to take apart, but it's not a speedy process ....

I had TWRP installed first. From there I followed the thread instructions. Worked like charm. With TWRP I installed the the 14.1 rom from highwaystar_ru. No problems so far. Then I saw npjohnsons Lineage 16 and wanted to Upgrade. But being a beginner I stumbled into several pitfalls with ADB (Tablett was in recovery, but it needs to be booted into the normal system) The towelroot Su from the instructions did not work. Thought I had to roll back to kitkat. Got the Rom from the link in the TWRP thread. But next pitfall, I installed it into micro sd card folder. Did work when I shifted everything to the internal memory Backup folder. Being back on kitkat I tried towelroot again to gain SU access. No success either. But I got lucky with "SupersSU v2.82 SR5 Beta" from droidfilehost.com page.
With SU applied, knowledge that for Adb commands the tablet had to be normally booted, I followed the instructions for Lineage OS and succeeded in installing the unofficial December, 16th version.

Power supply issue is the biggest problem. Charging is unreliable. Best chance in the dock. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Unplugging and replugging sometimes lets the indicator jump to more than empty. But I have never seen a full indication (would expect a filled symbol (green?)) even with 98% battery level booted in recovery mode.

Any ideas?

i have had similar issues with the dock charging. i noticed that the height of the connector in the dock is imperfect between others. (IE one dock connector sits 1.2mm higher than another) and i have also found that using switching power supplies vary in success.
my TANGO dock is connected to a 30amp DC supply with 2, old car audio (1.5f ) cap banks to clean up the ripple/noise. I also found 12.4 volts seems to be the sweet spot, (voltage @ power-supply -,, not 5.5mm connector- assuming typical losses over length of wire and points of contact ) (lets hope there is never a fault/short inside the tablet or dock , as those caps offer a world of instant current if needed, lol )

a few random switching supplies i tried, ( laptop, camera, etc..) had so much noise (terrible regulated DC) that it wouldn't charge at all. (most name brands were fine)

the dock - check the female barrel connector, as i had one which, required an xacto knife to re-bend the outer contact. (guessing previous owner yanked the connector out at a horrible angle)

- i think all the documentation tells of a 12V @ 3amp supply is needed, but the most i have ever seen was a hair over 2 AMPS . i suppose they account for extra power if you plug in a device to the USB3.0 port ? (the 12v DC @ 2 AMPS i saw , was only witnessed when first turning on a nearly dead tango on 4.4)

(if your in a pinch, a MILWAUKEE M12 USB adaptor works very well - its the same adapter used in there HEATED GEAR.. just need a 5.5mm barrel cable male-male .== MILWAUKEE HEATED GEAR uses a 5.5mm barrel plug)

depending on opportunity and free time, i may install a QCS spoofer board with-USB-C and 2S-battery charger board inside the tablet, with direct connection to battery, which would be easy because there is plenty of room inside the rear case .
The QCS spoof board is (trigger board) is tiny, and a 2cell lithium charger is as well (about the size and thickness of a nickle coin)

but before all this,
i want to see what changed inbetween the two builds, and if its possible to restore the charging to the dec-16 build, from the first one.(i havent had an opertunity to compare the two builds side by side, but i will, just need to have a day off work first. )

Update: I checked the dock. The board underneath the connector has no support and bends easily when the tablet is placed on the dock. I put a length of plastic tubing slightly larger than the space in the dock. So I am able to counter the bend of the connector board.As a result charging became reliable!! The first time I could observe the fully charged symbol in the off mode. Thanks again for the tip.
