looks like it works best booted directly.
fastboot boot <filename.img>

if booted from recovery partition (fastboot flash recovery <filename.img>) then reboot, it can't decrypt data partition for whatever reason.

but booted directly from bootloader with fastboot it can?? xD

will turning off the PIN/fingerprint password in the settings before booting twrp from recovery could work?
Cause I think that decrypt problem is caused by the PIN?

In TWRP 3.5.0_10-beta1 I can mount the system partition but not wipe or backup (its not shown in menu).
I'm currently using MIUI 21.1.2.0 global and want to install a custum ROM but want to backup everithing before.

Enyone else sees this?

Mi 10T Pro 12.5.1.0(RJDEUXM) installed, but I cant BOOT in twrp... I use command in fastboot mode
in my case "fastboot boot TWRP_apollo_3.5.0_10-beta_1_whyle.img" and it do everything... Than automatic reboot, and am holding Volume UP and Power button... But instead to boot to TWRP it goes to phone recovery... Where is my error?

Hi,
I just bought an apollo Pro, unlocked bootloader, installed TWRP and a custom ROM (NusantaraProject).
I'm having some problems with my installation and configuration.
I'd like to run a TWRP backup to be able to test another installation of this ROM, or of other ROMS, and be abl eto restore the current installation in I want to, later.
Looking at the TWRP backup, I don't know which partitions I should backup in order to be able to restore my current installation with settings.
There are some partitions seem "new" to me, like especially the "Super" one.
I was thinking of backing up only
- "Data"
- "Super" (containing "system" with other ones ?)
=> Are those 2 enough ?
=> Do you have other recommentations or details (or a link to a tuto/explanation on the TWRP backup/restore for Mi 10TPro or totally applicable to it ?) ?

Is formatting the only way to get to decrypt data with TWRP recovery (not counting fastboot boot image)?

In my case i had to flash first the twrp img file and than boot it from adb command.

Im also losing access if i just simple reboot to recovery without root. if you want to have full access boot your recovery img trough adb. it worked for me. Im using this twrp ->TWRP_apollo_3.5.0_10-beta_1_whyle.img

You basically only need data partition, as you can restore system and firmware from zips you used to install it. But restoring just doesn't work, gives some error and fails right at the beginning. Tested with couple of other roms and it backups fine but won't restore, probably because of encryption...

To flash custom roms, I use twrp boot with command "fastboot boot TWRP_apollo_3.5.0_10-beta_1_whyle.img".
When in twrp recovery, there is no option to wipe system partition. Does it mean, that wiping of system partition is no longer needed and direct flash of custom rom (ArrowOS) will clear all original content (miui rom) on system partition?

Wipe in a stock recovery removes contents of the data partition, not the system or other partitions. Wiping the system partition used to be recommended before flashing any custom ROMs.

as far as I know, data wipe is not supported from twrp, thus date wipe needs to be done from stock recovery (?)

from fastboot I do "fastboot boot twrp.img"
and made backup of /data partition...
and install new custom rom from booted twrp...
rebooted to stock recovery and wipe data
booted again twrp from fastboot "fastboot boot twrp.img"
when I tried to restore /data from previous backup, I got:

extracttarfork() process ended with error=255​

what did I do wrong?

    We couldn't modify /system /vendor /product and /odm, caused by new type of partition, so if you want modify them, use magisk module instead.​

    After working on TWRP for 2 weeks (without configuring the system), I finally found solution to resolve it.
    Now you can flash all roms as you have done usually

    3.5.0_10-beta_1(04.01.2021

    - Add prevent twrp replace
    - Add OTA fingerprint
    Notice: in some case a11 data decryption won't work, i will fix it as soon as possible.

    It's because google introduced dynamic partitioning a while ago. And TWRP just added support for it in 3.5 - basically super is a "master partition" containing system, vendor, and bunch of other partitions, and instructions on where is what. Without supported software such as magisk you can't really see those partitions. TWRP just added that few days ago, so expect it to work after a while...

    For those who are trying to flash xiaomi.eu roms, here is what I did using this twrp:
    (I flashed this twrp)

    **i'm from global rom mi 10t (apollo)
    **Weekly eu rom is what I installed
    **Since I cannot format the system, I tried to dirty flashed the rom.

    1. Format data only (advance format)
    2. Flash rom zip file and wait until it's done.
    *You will notice that after flashing, if you will reboot into system, you will be stucked in bootlooping into twrp.
    *In twrp, go to "mount", you will also notice that you cannot mount data and system.
    Next step...
    3. Format data (not in advance format) and wait until it's successful
    4. Go back to "mount" and you will notice now that data was already mounted.
    5. Mount system and reboot. First boot will take at least 5 minutes to load.

    *Data decryption is working when you successfully flashed the eu rom.

    This worked for me like a charm. Hope this helps.

    After I flash back original boot.img (extracted from recovery/fastboot rom) from fastboot, then it boot normally, but lose the root (and magisk). Someone told me that it is because I don't disable magisk module before flashing, causing the partition to be dirty when updating.

    I don't know that yet, so I ended up flashing fastboot rom A10 (still can't boot) and factory reset data to clear all the dirty partition. In your case, you probably stucked also. You can only flash original boot.img to boot normally. Backup your data as needed, then do a factory reset (probably have to reset from original recovery) to clear all the partition. Then you can try to boot TWRP and root again using magisk, and then restore your data as needed.


    MTP is working as long as your partition is not stuck just like above. It seems you have to wipe data after flashing any ROM, as the remnant from previous ROM will get it to bootloop.
