Here is TWRP 3 for the Moto G4/G4 Plus
I decided to open this thread and make unofficial builds because the official TWRP seems not maintained.

It should work when you flash it, but using it is still a try at your own risk procedure.

To temporarily boot this recovery:
Code: 
fastboot boot twrp.img

To permanently flash it:
Code: 
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img

The download is up on moto.shreps.fr.

Changelog:
twrp-3.1.0-athene_shreps.img
- Upgraded to TWRP 3.1 version
- Back to stock TWRP Theme

twrp-3.0.3-n4-athene_shreps.img
- Includes all n3 changes, encryption fully updated for N
- Uses LineageOS Kernel and DT
- Might not decrypt partitions encrypted with MM ROMs/Firmwares or any ROM using old encryptions blobs

twrp-3.0.3-n3-athene_shreps.img
- Qseecomd and crypto blobs and library updated to N (from stock NPJ25_93-14).
- Use this version if you need to decrypt your /data partition in stock N
- This version may not work with MM blobs encryption (might not be able to decrypt partition encrypted with MM blobs)

twrp-3.0.3-n2-athene_shreps.img
- fstab updated to be able to backup more firmware partitions

twrp-3.0.3-n1-athene_shreps.img
- Fully rebased on AOSP Recovery 7.1
- TWRP bump to 3.0.3, with a lot of fixes
- Dark Material Theme
- Removed cursor pointer

twrp-3.0.2-r4-athene_shreps.img
- TWRP fixes update
- Android N log command support (cherry-pick from AOSP Nougat)
> No more command error when flashing N Rom like cm-14.1

twrp-3.0.2-r3-athene_shreps.img
- Compiled with cm-13.0 kernel
- PStore and debug support
- Full f2fs support

twrp-3.0.2-r1-athene_shreps.img
- Initial Release, using Lenovo/Moto Stock Prebuilt Kernel
- Encryption support (for both userdata and SD Card formatted as internal storage)

Working great here. Nothing flashed yet, but I trust it to be working!

Send with my Moto G4 Plus (XT1642) on CyanogenMod 14.1, Android 7.1, using Tapatalk!

You don't need fastboot. You can flash using flashify app or in twrp as image.

Just flashed the latest CM14.1 with this recovery! All fine! No more error messages.

Send with my Moto G4 Plus (XT1642) on CyanogenMod 14.1, Android 7.1, using Tapatalk!

    More partitions available in backup, didn't had time to test "restore" of those partitions.

    It seems that people don't read carefully the thread and the purpose of what I'm posting.
    Anyway to make it simple, and stopping having questions and PM, here is the move:

    the n2 version has been updated, it should fix all minor bugs from TWRP function, please use this new version (download again from my website).

    I simply removed the n3 for now, it's working only with Stock NPJ25-93-14. Will try to make a proper one for custom ROM too later if found enough time.
