This recovery installs OK for me on my CN phone converted to WW rom, but if I use the TWRP "Root Phone" option in Advanced to root and install Magisk, it disables the Wifi, and after rebooting the phone it goes into a bootloop that I can't recover from (not even restoring from TWRP backup) and I have to reflash WW rom to recover. I repeated this refleash/reroot process 3 or 4 times and it happened every time with breaking wifi and then reboot failing.

So it works, but I wouldn't use the built-in rooting yet until it is ironed out.
Yes, just flash magisk. No issues there.

OK, that worked. I'll stick to flashing root with the normal posted method since it doesn't work inside TWRP.

hi bro. after installing twrp, how do I go back to using the old one?
Just flash the original rom. I don't know why you would want to though, because TWRP lets you backup/recovery any rom. Remember that flashing a rom erases storage, so you shoul dmake a full backup in TWRP first and save it to external storage like your PC. That way you can recover.

Does anyone know a way to backup the Stock Recovery before flash?
If not backup, At least a possible way to extract the image from a RAW file? (OTA UL files doesn't have this image)

What is the magiskboot file for? What if you are already unlocked, rooted, and have magisk v20 already installed?

Also, reading here, we dont fastboot flash RECOVERY? Instead we fastboot flash BOOT? Doesnt that write over the boot file and not the recovery file?

Any idea when there will be official TWRP release?

Okay so, Magisk v20.0 caused some issues with my TWRP-patched ROM, for example some apps would fail to start and even system launcher won't start randomly. I tried to downgrade it to 19.4 but didn't pay attention and flashed the zip with the OTA option in Magisk. My device can't detect the system thus can't boot at all.

Be very cautious with Magisk's update guys.

Yeah, I had slot a_is unbootable when trying to update to v. 20 via OTA option. Had to clean install 1908 WW then used the recommended method (direct install) and it worked.

Ok, so flashed TWRP and my root/magisk disappeared. How can I fix this?

I gained root by this guide- https://forum.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-2/how-to/flashing-ww-rom-changing-cn-fingerprint-t3969765 which has us flash a boot img with root on it. Since this TWRP is also a boot img, wont flashing the other root image just screw everything up? I was able to update to version 1908 before all I flashed TWRP.

Nvm, the TWRP root feature worked fine and actually installed Magisk 19.4 and then I updated to v20 through direct install just like reg66 and all seems to be running well. Now time to get xposed running.

That would be awesome, I cant seem to get all of them to work together. Once you think one is great it removes root or breaks recovery. Its getting pretty frustrating. I really thought there wouldve been more love for the ROG 2 on here. Hopefully it picks up soon.

EDIT: After doing a bit of testing it seems that the issue really comes just from magisk v20 where it will remove TWRP completely. Flashing TWRP will cause a bootloop with Magisk v20 installed. You have to uninstall Magisk from the app then you can flash TWRP then install root from inside TWRP and itll install Magisk v19.4 and work fine.
