Thanks for the advice. I had tried simply booting to twrp as well, but it wouldn't boot for me either. I will look for the new post. What does difference does the decryption aspect make? I am assuming it is probably better to wait for that to be finished?

Yeah, this one didn't work at all, even just booting it caused issues for some.

Without decryption you can't do complete backups or effectively read/work with anything on internal storage. I have the new one installed but am largely waiting for full functionality. You can root with a method using Magisk without TWRP but it's probably better/safer to just install the current semi-working TWRP and install the Magisk zip from your SD (which it can read fine) from recovery.

Also, with current TWRP installed you'll be able to install/upgrade to next TWRP versions when ready from within TWRP by putting them on your SD too.
