yeah it makes it a little bit easier, it's better if you've got control of the reboot.
leave it plugged in in download mode, hold power and volume down for 7 plus seconds. when the phone reboots you'll hear the windows disconnected sound, immediately switch to volume up and power until it boots into recovery.

This exactly what I do and the phone gets the loop and it does not boot into the system either. I will keep trying.

the phone should either boot into TWRP, boot into stock recovery or boot into system. if it's bootlooping something else is wrong and you should flash stock and start again if it carries on happening once you've let go.
bare in mind you have 2 extra screens at start up now, even for recovery. that threw me off to begin with.

I read some info on this thread about keeping data encrypted but still have some doubts. Can you enlighten me on this?

- If I choose to keep encryption on, TWRP won't be able to access individual file contents for backup/restore or even flashing onto the /data partition. But flashing or backup/restore of other partitions is possible with OTG storage.
- Are "full partition" backups of /data itself possible onto an external OTG storage? And working restore of course :)

Apart from these encryption limitations, any known issues with the recent builds of android 11?

(my device is the 4G version (G780F/DS) but there is no big reference in its thread about the encryption implications and the TWRP features should be the same)

Thanks!
I also have that model, did it work?
I want to be rooted but my model is the 780G / DS Snapdragon 4G version.

I tried to do a backup on the SM-G780G (super, prism, optics, boot) and I got a "failed" message at the end of the backup. Can not see any files in "File Manager" --> "usb-otg". But when doing an install can see files.

@afaneh92 : please can you add our model to the build would be great.

@Svan987 some of those partitions really don't need backing up as they never be over written. I had a similar issue because the flash drive I used was formatted to VFAT which has a maximum file size of 4gb. backup anything you need off the drive and format it too Ext4 or something else that'll take the bigger files.

I mounted "system" and trying to delete a directory in "system/system_ext/priv-app/" : process ended with ERROR: 1. Is it a bug or there is way to change permissions and delete files ?

fingerprint works fine, I've never heard of anyone saying face unlock doesn't work but I don't use that.
as long as you stay on Samsung firmware everything should work.

I managed to pass for a while but google regularly makes fixes for those that bypass safetynet.

Guys think that now that john.whu (the dev of Magisk) is working in the security section of Google it's going to be harder and harder to get around safetynet...

Follow this thread for safetynet 👇

    Note:
    To disable encryption manually:
You need to replace fileencryption=ice with encryptable=ice only in userdata line (maybe rest lines) in vendor/etc/fstab.qcom
To avoid stock recovery restoration manually:
    Rename system/recovery-from-boot.p to recovery-from-boot.p.bak

@afaneh92 just checking in to ask what if any sources to you want / need to help you ?
I'm on the Samsung open source site now and downloading a zip for G781BXXU2CUD1 but I've no idea if it's kernel sources inside (280mbs ish). another page I saw here mentioned using the inquiry tab to submit a request.

if you can tell me exactly what you want I'll more than happily put in a request for it, I'm sure others would too.

I'll edit this later and add the zip files full name that I've downloaded and if you want that I'll put it mediafire or similar.

SM-G781B_SEA_RR_Opensource.zip is the archive name, taken from clicking on G781BXXU2CUD1 which matches my current baseband and buildnumberView attachment 5299763
I will start working on the new kernel source soon.

    Hi everybody,
Sorry in advance for this noob question.
Starting from stock Android12, I went thru all @afaneh92 process and it's working nicely.
Now I'd like to upgrade to Androi13: do I have to rerun exactly all the process (& so loosing my data)?
In other words: are BL unlock and avb disable persistent after an Odin flash ?
Thank you for sharing your skills !
Note: steps 2-6 are important, missing any will lose your data.

    1. Load all files to their respective slots in odin, pick HOME_CSC instead of CSC.
    2. Uncheck auto reboot in Odin and hit start.
    3. Reboot to download if possible from odin options (not working on all devices), or using buttons combo.
    4. Keep auto reboot unchecked, Flash TWRP in AP slot and vbmeta_disabled.tar in USERDATA
    5. Hold volume down and power until the screen goes black then immediately switch to holding volume up and power to reboot into TWRP.
    6. Disable encryption:
    - Go to Advanced > Terminal, type: multidisabler.
You will see " - Finished." When it is done.
    7. flash magisk then reboot to system (optional).
