Hu, I am not completely sure for now.
Magisk 25.2 runs fine without issues on the Galaxy Tab S8 ultra with the BVL2-ROM from February.
I know that for the S23 ultra there is a modification in Magisk needed and therefore one must use a canary version for patching AP. I do not thought that this is also needed for the Tab S8 ultra.

I will read a little bit in the Magisk threads for sure and get maybe some information.
lol sorry wrong thread is there a way to delete the comment?

Thank you very much for the warning! I will first read and then afterwards trying to update the Tab S8. Everything runs 100% fine with the current rom so no need to update immediately.

Edit: now I have read what's going on with Magisk canary: a lot of changes which breaks a lot of things.
Nothing for me. :)
So if Magisk 25.2 is not able to create a usable patched AP I will wait with an upgrade of the rom till a more stable Magisk version is released.

Note: steps 2-6 are important, missing any will lose your data.

1. Load all files to their respective slots in odin, pick HOME_CSC instead of CSC.
2. Uncheck auto reboot in Odin and hit start.
3. Reboot to download if possible from odin options (not working on all devices), or using buttons combo.
4. Keep auto reboot unchecked, Flash TWRP in AP slot and vbmeta_disabled.tar in USERDATA
5. Hold volume down and power until the screen goes black then immediately switch to holding volume up and power to reboot into TWRP.
6. Disable encryption:
- Go to Advanced > Terminal, type: multidisabler.
You will see " - Finished." When it is done.
7. flash custom kernel and magisk then reboot to system (optional).
Good day, I have a rooted S8 + with OneUI 5.0 and latest firmware. Does this version still work to flash TWRP without issues. IF YES will I loose all datas? if yes, another point: is kernel posted here actualized or it is from last year still.
And at last is it really necessary to flash TWRP having rooted my tablet and be able to use magisk modules.
Thank you so much for the information.

Yes and yes, flash same kernel as your kernel version

Just installed the TWRP recovery and magisk on my Tab S8 Wifi model (SM-X700) and everything seems great so far.

At first I didn't know a TWRP for Tab S8 existed, so I rooted it through the Odin patch method (following the instructions from the Root-Guide-post on the How-to-Guide section), but with that method you have to find, download, patch and reinstall the firmware (which btw is still the stock rom although it is rooted) and still stay on the stock recovery which is quite a drawback.
The custom recovery is for me of crucial importance, it has saved me many times from a lot of trouble in the past by helping me to retrieve important data from my bricked devices as well as to unbrick them.

I'd like to add that I'm craving for a custom rom for the Galaxy Tab S8. So far I haven't found any. I would gladly trade those totally unnecessary Dex or S-Pen gimmicks for unrestricted android/data access, functionality of memory changer apps and compatibility with good older apps. Android 12 and 13 seem very primitive iOS-like systems and becoming worse. I am using Android 9 on other devices and it seems actually a far better option compared to those restricted bs ''modern'' devices they are trying to push nowadays. So I really hope someone would care to bring custom roms for these devices, no matter if One UI based, Lineage OS based or anything else. I wouldn't mind to pay for stable custom roms.

That aside I am very excited to have found this method which installs in a few steps the TWRP custom recovery, offers root access and does not require a new firmware installation or other struggles. Kudos to the dev!

Hi there.
I flashed OneUi 5.1 today via odin according the instructions with Home CSC over my previous OneUi 5.0 version.
After that i was not able anymore to boot into the system.
Then i flashed TWRP and vbmeta_disabled_R.tar through odin -> went to twrp, used multidisabler, reboot twrp and flashed waipio-gki_kernel_5.10.136-afaneh92-g41eef323cd25_2023_02_21 kernel and magisk, but i still stuck in a bootloop.
TWRP also does not allow me to mount vendor partition. Is that normal?

Any idea or solutions about that?

is TWRP even updated for the latest A13/One UI 5.1 on the S8 Tab+? I had to root mine using EX Kernel Manager. If there's a way to get TWRP working could someone fill me in?

    * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
    * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.

Note1: You need a custom permissive kernel to boot with R/W vendor.
Note2: If you got bootloop on Samsung logo, reboot to TWRP and wipe metadata from Advanced Wipe section

Hello @afaneh92 . I happen to own a Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 (Model X700, CSC: CHN) device. And, I forked your GitHub repository, applied some tweaks to the touch screen parameters, and tested the tweaks on my device. I believe that I have fixed the touch screen problem, at least for my device. My device's TWRP is fully working now. I used its touch screen to run the multidisabler, to flash the custom kernel, and to flash Magisk without any problems. Thank you for your brilliant works! And, I am happy to share with you and the community both the source code and binaries. I will attach the GitHub link of my release below. (Attachment 1/2) I will also attach the same binary here for the communities' convenience. (Attachment 2/2)
