same effect, it doesn't ask for a PIN thus it doesn't decrypt the data partition.

I assume that neither the test one nor the Miui variant works.
I downloaded that Rom yesterday to give it a look and, in my opinion, it should work with the Miui variant.
I have noticed that on some devices with Miui, depending on the release in which /data was formatted is different the right recovery.
I've, for now, no other solution and can't install ArrowOS to experiment. :(

propbably it's just an issue that I'm using vanilla with microG, so it didn't ask me for a PIN at first boot.

I concluded that custom roms (without Miui) are unable to decrypt /data with this recovery.
Checking LineageOS and ArrowOS, it seems that they use a different encryption mode than Miui.
I haven't found how to check on Twrp booting what encryption mode /data uses and adjust to it.
Therefore, I have uploaded another release for non Miui devices.

Twrp 3.7.0.3F Not Miui - 2022.11.25

Not tested by myself, I don't know if it decrypts fine.
sorry bro already done

Is it normal that your recovery can't decrypt miui.eu with android 11 ?

I don't know. For android 11, I was using the stock Miui EAA and stock recovery.

The first Twrp release was for xiaomi.eu stable 13.0.6.0 and weekly from that moment.

Are you still using an ancient Miui version?

Yep, will update to miui13 soon™.
Use OrangeFox Official.
It's my current recovery. Can I flash miui13 via this recovery without losing date? I have never done android version upgrade before.

I believe @Camerado's advice will be correct.

Just because a recovery cannot decrypt /data does not mean that it cannot update the system.

However, in my opinion, you could evaluate the possibility of doing an installation from scratch, saving only your data (not by backup of installed settings and apps) and then, later, copy this data back to the device.

In this case I would install 13.0.6.0 release by fastboot as first installation (deleting data).
Then I would install the latest Twrp and then update (from runing system) to the latest stable by Ota.

A heavy and laborious process, but that leaves the device as new.

Hi,
i have a problem during backup of data, i'm getting "createTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255"
MI10t lite, MIUI Global 13.0.8 and Twrp 3.7.0.3F Miui - 2022.11.25
TWRP is also not asking password at startup, is it normal?

Test with previous TWRP release .
If not asking for pin/password you can't do a backup. /Data partition must be decrypted in order to do so.

Thank you so much, but it doesn't work, i tested all recent releases
now i also tried deleting my password so it's not required anymore, but still the same error,
i had the "createTarFork() process ended with ERROR: 255" in a previous version, and i found a working solution online, but i don't recall where...

I think this error is related to /data partition not decrypted.
