No,Shreps version is not working for me too. Official version is OK. You can try it.
OK, so I tried the one you linked, it installed the Gapps but I still got the same error below:
Failed to mounnt' fsg
Failed to mounnt' oem
Failed to mounnt' dsp

Not sure why?

Is this image diferent than Shreps, 31.10?
I use the Shreps version, have this problem:
View attachment 4072423

This is the error I get?

Sent from my XT1650-03 using XDA-Developers Legacy app
That's very weird the errors you got guys. I don't reproduce on my variant.
Are you on a M or N base firmware (meaning, did you upgrade to Nougat with official Moto/Lenovo OTA before going on custom ROMs) ?
Also, can you check the MD5Sum of your TWRP file, mine is:
Code:
81e9a5911bb2c81adb6622e16f69b042 moto.shreps.fr/Moto Z (griffin)/recovery/twrp-3.1.0_griffin_shreps.img
And finally, FYI, the difference between my version and the official one is mainly Encryption support (the official one is also now updated to Nougat kernel).
And this encryption support requires more partitions to be mounted (Nougat partitions with nougat keys updated by Lenovo).
So if you don't need to decrypt your partitions because you don't care of security, you can use the official one without problem, otherwise I recommend to stay on my version, but it requires to have a device update to the latest Nougat official base Firmware (to get all partitions up to date).

Hope I explained a little more what's the matter here ^^

Hi, thanks for the explanation. I'm running N 7.1.1 running your AOKP rom. I was able to install the rom and Gapps using " janjan" recovery image from his Stock Rom Odexed & Deodexed[GRIFFIN_RET-EU and US-Version] post. Everything installed OK without any errors. Thanks for your help.

I am back up and running now. Using Turbo stock kernel and am rooted with the chainfire supersu 2.79 but my Moto Z always goes to the bootloader screen and then I have to press the power key to do a "START".

Must be something simple that I am doing wrong but I have spent so much time getting this phone up that I don't want to make a fatal mistake.

Any thoughts? Thanks to all in advance.
On bootloader, run:

Code:
fastboot oem fb_mode_clear
Then restart it, tell me if it helps

I have a motoz stocked android 7.0 XT1950-03. I rooted a coplue of Note 3 before (very easy I might add) but never rooted a moto. What will be the easiest way to get stocked root. I only really want to be able to run titanium back up.
Thanks

I think this is not valid anymore, right?
I use official TWRP with Nougat firmware/bootloader and Resurrection Remix.
No problems with mounting encrypted /data.

I can't get this to flash. When I try fastboot flash recovery it says this:
(bootloader) Image not signed or corrupt

What am I missing?

@Shreps, I know this thread is for your builds and not the official one.... but I think you use also the official one (and there is no other thread for TWRP).

I found an issues, dunno if it's intended 'cause the last version is over a half year old.
I also don't know if it is for all devices or this specific one.
When I type in an encryption password for the backup, no special characters are taken.

Please tell me if only I am experiencing this or everyone else too.
My TWRP version is: 3.1.1-0 (the current one)

When encrypted, I was using a schema and not a password, so I didn't experience your issue. Honestly I don't know if it's TWRP global or not.
