MIUI MIMAX3 Global 9.2.18
The TWRP asks for a password. The default data decryption does not work.

MIUI MIMAX3 Global 9.2.15 - everything worked!
TWRP last - (02-01-2019)twrp_v323-4_nitrogen_nijel8-MOD.img

Thanks to nijel8 and everyone here, I successfully installed TWRP and then Magisk on my Taiwan bought Global set running 9.6.7.0 OEDMIFD.
However a bit of a scare for me after entering "fastboot boot (XX-XX-XXXX)twrp_v323-X_nitrogen_nijel8-MOD.img" to reboot my screen remained blank (dark screen but I can see the phone is still on with the backlight). Waited for 10mins and did a manual boot to recovery (didn't ask for any password), then installed Magisk and all working perfectly now. With Magisk (enabled hiding Google Play) and phone is finally Play Protection certified.

One question, to do a backup must I select all options? I left out the following: System Image, Vendor, Vendor Image, Modem, EFS, Persist, Boot Logo. Is this ok?

Confirmed. @nijel8

Everything was OKAY on earliest China dev ROMs, but TWRP asks for a password again on last official 9.2.18...

Just loud-thoughts (Non-Sanctuaries):
Is this now another permanent protection?
Or was this a special 9.2.18 build?
And will everything be resolved in the next 9.2.22 build?

To install:
- USB connect device to PC
- reboot to fastboot
- open Command prompt/Terminal in the folder with the recovery image and run these commands line by line:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery (XX-XX-XXXX)twrp_v323-X_nitrogen_nijel8-MOD.img
fastboot boot (XX-XX-XXXX)twrp_v323-X_nitrogen_nijel8-MOD.img
Hello,
I make that but after the phone just reboot... and ? how to get to twrp ?
I'm on global stable 10.0.1.0 (the phone is an china version, unlocked)

Did you try pressing and holding POWER + VOLUME UP buttons?
Usually on Mi Max 3 that enters the twrp.

Hello everyone,

I am with the version of (Mi Max 3 - MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM V10.2.1.0.OEDMIFK) and everything has worked perfectly.

Just a few details with a TWRP installation and root process.

1 - Follow the TWRP installation steps indicated by @JulianJenner.

(fastboot boot recoveryname.img)
(after being in the twrp flash again the twrp image through the twrp)

2 - Magisk
After Flash Magisk (18.1) it does not install the APK Manager, install the APK Manager manually.

3 - After leaving the TWRP (boot system) I received a message (surviving system boot!), But everything worked.

3.1 - Sometimes Magisk loses root, then open the Magisk Manager and reinstall. I checked the options (Preserve forced cryptography and Preserve AVB 2.0 / dm verify). Sometimes this corrects, but nothing much.

Attentive
Make backups via TWRP in case you get the wrong get back.
Have the Xiamoi bootloader unlocked before to take any step above.

Great work @nijel8

Thank you.
