oh wow really?!

the only reason i got this tab was because i thought it would support sixaxis whereas my nook hd doesnt -_-

turns out this quad core tablet gets out performed by my dual core nook!

You can pair it on pc with the tab and play via bluetooth, thats how i play with it on my gameklip.

I really don't know if it works on mc4 but I think it doesn't because it doesn't has the otg support, the 1.1 ROM has around 13k points in antutu, some say that aosp ROM has 13800 points, but it doesn't really matter, mostly every time you will get different scores...

phew, finally managed to make a few posts saying nothing and getting trough all the hoops so i could post here

anyway, first of all thankx to superdragonpt for all the work here
I can only suggest to show him some love and send him some beer money :good:

some things i noticed:

a) i'm using v1.1 R2 (did not have time to backup stuff and try out the aosp ) and noticed also this behaviour that was not commented on :

I noticed a little quirk with the regular rom. Whenever I restart the tablet the icon I put in the bottom right on the home page always disappears and doesn't seem to stick after a reboot.
( for me it's the most right icon on the launcher that is gone - i have 4 icons in total in the launcher)
something i did not noticed with the "asus stock", it would be good if anyone could confirm this or not.

b) i noticed the tablet often "hangs a little" when waking up , the lock screen (simple swipe lock) is not resposive for several seconds, enough the be fairly anoying.
i did set the gouverner in performance control to "performance" , does not seams to make a big difference
i also notice it with going to gmail or the youtube app regulary (but not reproducable) that they sometimes open very quickly (like as if you closed them and opend them again) and sometimes it takes long (did not time it but it seams even longer than when after a reboot)
i have no "task killer" or so and typically run gmail, youtube and chrome and then leave it simply lock itself, nothing fancy / memory hungry that would push the apps out of memory or so, if anyone has any tips on what to check, please let me know.

Hi, I'm on Stock Asus ROM, with a couple of updates (OTAs). The thing is that I've deleted some system .apk using RootExplorer and now OTA does not update the tablet. Did a factory reset and didn't fix the issue, still a Root and can't do OTA updates.
I was trying to return the tablet to stock linke instructed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46928351&postcount=5 and after installing the drivers (successfully I hope), when trying to update I get the error on the image attached.
Any ideas on what to do?

Hi,
But you need first unlock the bootloader, right?

Enviado do meu ME173X através de Tapatalk

Yes, it is described in the instructions.
But they still have to read about step 4 and 5.

Thanks! So, even if I don't want to install the ROM and only install the stock ROM and bootloader I have to follow steps on post #2 and #3?
Is post #3 optional and after #2 I can do directly to #5 if I don't need the ROM nor the custom recovery?

Hello all, and happy new year from a new member of the Memo Pad HD 7 community! :)

Just bought this tablet last week, and I am pretty happy with it. Thanks to @superdragonpt and this thread, I unlocked the BL, installed a custom recovery, but decided in favour of a rooted and debloated stock ROM for now. Not to say that the ROM by @superdragonpt is not good -- it definitely is, but just not too much to my personal liking... I do have a couple of questions, though. Not sure if this would be the right thread to ask all of them, but there is no dedicated forum for our tab on XDA, and the dev support in general for this little guy is very scarce...

1. Are there any other recoveries available for this tablet? One thing I don't like about the touch recovery provided in this thread is HUGE font size with no way of changing it. Very inconvenient, especially when long filenames get truncated. Or, is it possible to somehow mod this recovery and reduce the font to somewhat more sensible size?
2. Is there any way (DPI tweaks, special apps, Xposed modules, anything) to enable the Tablet UI on this device, while keeping the Asus Quick Settings? As per the screenshot, it works perfectly with Asus customizations disabled (when the statusbar and notifications area are basically AOSP), but with Asus Quick Settings the SystemUI FC's right away...
3. Is there any way at all to get rid of that "External storage inserted" notification (kill it for good, or make it configurable)? It's just retarded to have it there all the time -- it takes a lot of space, and it has that unmount button that is too easy to tap by mistake, which gives no warning before unmounting your SD card.

Thanks in advance!

1. There is the carliv touch recovery v2, shoxxy posted it on this thread idk which page exactly (if you want it just flash it as a zip in the carliv touch recovery v1)

2. Idk about this.

3. If you hold that external storage text and it gets blue swipe your finger down and then swipe it up, that will hide the unmount and open text.

OK, I will go search for Carliv Touch v.2 (I went through the thread, but rather quickly, so must have missed it). As for the storage notification -- yes, that works, thanks! I would still prefer to completely get rid of that line, though. Well, better off without those buttons, anyway... :)

EDIT: Found Carliv Touch v.2! Funny, it was on the page just outside of that most important 5-page range (first and last) that I read more carefully, and just quickly scan the rest... :) Flashed it, feels much better now! Thanks a lot again for the hint!

Thanks for that! It helped bringing my Memo Pad HD 7 back to life. Follow the steps until the last one, where I mixed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49020132#post49020132 and post #5 of this theat. It worked like a charm and have my TAB as Stock.

Have another question, I rooted it with Framaroot; can I install Xposed?

Thanks!

    NOT Working:
    • Cameras (front and rear)

    Needs further work:
    • External Storage, will be available once you take your SDCard off, and insert again.BUT can cause random reboots.
    • BT, will give you FC when you turn on, but it works OK
    • You tell me

In addition to the ROM changelog:
External SDCard: as I said it can cause random reboots, also if you reboot the TAB it can cause bootloops,in this case just remove the SDCard and the TAB will boot just fine. Last case scenario, remove the SDCard and wipe dalvik
Benchmarks: Well its noticeable the increase in speed and less RAM usage on the AOSP Betas.
Some guys are asking me why the Antutu scores are so similar with the stock Asus/And my custom ROM?
Well you should check the ram usage/FPS between the ROMs And since the Aosp doesn't fully support the external SDCard, this will give about less 2k on Antutu scores (Storage IO / database IO)
So... If you really want to compare Antutu scores, remove your External SDCard from the stock Asus/ V1.1r2 Roms.
