Wut?

Every ROM haves the kernel included of course

And every ROM for this.model uses stock prebuilt kernel, as ASUS as not provided proper kernel sources... (Well Asus did provided two kernel sources. But they are "fake" , aka, those are just an generic kernel SoC source...)

Still not getting what's the issue, and no, very unlikely to be an recovery issue or ROM issue... Over the last 3 years many users , flashed this ROMs.

Maybe you have a slightly different hardware revision?

Very weird

okay so i have only 2 options i can think of:
1- compile the kernel source that Asus has provided me into a zImage file then put it in the booi.img file in one of the ROMs (but you say they're fake, would u elaborate more?!)
2- flash one of the ROMs on their website for other MeMo pad versions (ME176C, ME175CG, ME171C, ME170C, ME176C)
Do you think that that'll work?

It gives me another question. is ME173X the same as ME173XX? coz mine is XX version.

dt_matthews thanks so f_cking much bro. i can't believe that all of this fuss was about the difference between ME173X and ME173XX, i know that you can't install a device's ROM on another device, but they are almost the same what the hell

You got it bro. Out tablets are basically the same as theirs. Even the brand name. The only difference is the single X. Like a chromosome. Mess up and you'll end up having a retard product.

What makes asus doing this? Is it because of hardware restriction? Country? Limited edition?

guys, can you please help me what files are needed to replace in root folder in order for my bluetooth to turn on? I successfully turn my wifi on by copying the system/lib/modules from k00u to me173x. btw im aware that k00u is different to me173x. its just that i want to try the custom rom knowing the two tablets are identically similar.

HELP!!!!!!!
I reset my ASUS Memopad HD 7 stock rom from your thread using SP Flash tool (ME173X_WW_user_4.2.4.06716_20130918) and everything was good :good: but then I got a system update to update to ME173X_WW_user_4.2.4.72702_20131128 and during the update process, it got stuck and is on a loop I think it was trying to update the stock recovery repositories and failed. Now I can't boot into recovery!!

EDIT: nevermind, i followed your instructions to unlock the bootloader+ install custom recovery worked. didnt install custom rom. went straight ahead to flash stock rom and it worked!!l lifesaver <3

tried refreshing stock rom using sp flash tool, got error and failed. what should I do??
its soft-bricked.

    DEPRICATED ROMs

    Changelogs Rom 1
Android 4.2.2 (JB) Based custom ROM (Stock Based):

    Changelog Build v1.1 R2 (November 13 2013)

    • Camera buttons layout fix
    • Calendar sync fix

    Old Builds ChangeLogs:

    Changelog Build v1.1 (November 10 2013)

    • Added the following Android 4.4 kitkat Goodies:
    • Apps
    • Bootanimation
    • QuickOffice
    • And other necessary system files
    • Added both USB connection modes:USB Storage and MTP Mode(internal storage now available via MTP)

    • Cleaned and modified some System Interface Code

    Changelogs Rom 2
    AOSP Android 4.2.2 (JB) ROM:

    Changelog BETA v2.0 (February 08 2014)

    • Internal Storage is now readable/writable
    • Emulated Storage is now readable/writable
    • App Instalation is Fixed
    • Update BusyBox
    • Update SuperSU
    • Update GravityBox; Xposed Framework (Fully Working since this is AOSP)
    • And several other Fixs

    NOT Working:
    • Cameras (front and rear)

    Needs further work:
    • External Storage, will be available once you take your SDCard off, and insert again.BUT can cause random reboots.
    • BT, will give you FC when you turn on, but it works OK
    • You tell me

In addition to the ROM changelog:
External SDCard: as I said it can cause random reboots, also if you reboot the TAB it can cause bootloops,in this case just remove the SDCard and the TAB will boot just fine. Last case scenario, remove the SDCard and wipe dalvik
Benchmarks: Well its noticeable the increase in speed and less RAM usage on the AOSP Betas.
Some guys are asking me why the Antutu scores are so similar with the stock Asus/And my custom ROM?
Well you should check the ram usage/FPS between the ROMs And since the Aosp doesn't fully support the external SDCard, this will give about less 2k on Antutu scores (Storage IO / database IO)
So... If you really want to compare Antutu scores, remove your External SDCard from the stock Asus/ V1.1r2 Roms.
