Dark theme for menu + other Mods

I have read this thread and my conclusion is that custom ROMs like CM10 is something which is now impossible due to SoC documentation which is not/will be not available + due to missing source files.

Therefore I would like to ask you whether it is possible to at least do some MOD zip files which might be easily installed with CWM.

I was thinking on following changes:
  • Change all menu colors from light color to black/blue
  • Change notification bar color from purple to blue
  • Add battery status icon shown in %
  • Change of DPI

All changes should be reversible with another stock MOD zip files for CWM.

Thanks for the information! It will be first time using Xposed, as I usually use ROMs... Any Xposed modules that you know are working fine on the Memo Pad HD 7? Are you using (or have your tryied) GravityBox or XblastTools? Do they work fine on this Tab?

Hello all, and happy new year from a new member of the Memo Pad HD 7 community! :)

Just bought this tablet last week, and I am pretty happy with it. Thanks to @superdragonpt and this thread, I unlocked the BL, installed a custom recovery, but decided in favour of a rooted and debloated stock ROM for now. Not to say that the ROM by @superdragonpt is not good -- it definitely is, but just not too much to my personal liking... I do have a couple of questions, though. Not sure if this would be the right thread to ask all of them, but there is no dedicated forum for our tab on XDA, and the dev support in general for this little guy is very scarce...

1. Are there any other recoveries available for this tablet? One thing I don't like about the touch recovery provided in this thread is HUGE font size with no way of changing it. Very inconvenient, especially when long filenames get truncated. Or, is it possible to somehow mod this recovery and reduce the font to somewhat more sensible size?
2. Is there any way (DPI tweaks, special apps, Xposed modules, anything) to enable the Tablet UI on this device, while keeping the Asus Quick Settings? As per the screenshot, it works perfectly with Asus customizations disabled (when the statusbar and notifications area are basically AOSP), but with Asus Quick Settings the SystemUI FC's right away...
3. Is there any way at all to get rid of that "External storage inserted" notification (kill it for good, or make it configurable)? It's just retarded to have it there all the time -- it takes a lot of space, and it has that unmount button that is too easy to tap by mistake, which gives no warning before unmounting your SD card.

Thanks in advance!

tescos sorted you?

my friend thanks for reply.

I end flash.

But i can not update my tablet.
It writes the updates you have the latest version.

SKU tablet corresponds bought?
If you bought WW, then you should get an update, but on condition that the serial number, WIFI MAC-address is the same as when buying.
If one of the conditions does not match, you will not get updates.

These can easily be done by Xposed modules and/or build.prop editing. Not what you are asking for, but just a suggestion, if you really need the change...

I use Advanced Power Menu, Gravity Box, XBattery Themer, Phab7, App Settings, XPrivacy. Modules like GB or XBlast are a bit of a lottery on stock ROMs, as they are built for AOSP, so some settings may not work. Those settings in GB that I actually need work fine for me. :)

What is your build number, some say that Asus doesn't give us the update option 24/7, so try later :)

Annita, I use GravityBox and XThemeEngine, and both work fine.

Sorry for offtopic.

The wifi Mac address must be the same as the bluetooth?

It may be my problem not to update.

He once was for technical assistance (Oct/2013)

The version I have is: ME173X_WW_user_4.2.3.70794_20130719 release-keys

Is there any way to know if the Mac has changed?

When I tried updates (several times) had no root.
Now he's root.

Thankful in advance.

I hope you have a root.
Everything is much easier with the mac-addresses.
Download file WIFI
http://www.mediafire.com/download/18dlgkbrqscsoha/WIFI.7z
In HEX editor record your data in 0x4-0x9 (now there FF)
On the tablet copy the file on the trail. path /data/nvram/APCFG/APRDEB/
attributes of a file- rw-rw ----

if need be for bluetooth, it is necessary to edit the file BT_Addr
http://www.mediafire.com/download/bhsbnam18650824/BT_Addr.7z
In HEX editor record your data in 0x0-0x5 (now there FF)
attributes of a file- rw-rw ----

Address bluetooth for 2 more addresses WIFI. (eg address WIFI FF: FF: FF: FF: FF: 28, then the address will be bluetooth - FF: FF: FF: FF: FF: 2A)

Check the serial number.
Settings -> About tablet -> Status ---- Serial number

Compare the serial number on the back cover that the tablet (or the warranty card).

Let's start with a huge THANK YOU superdragonpt, you've really done great with that rom!

Just three little things:

1. The 7th icon in APP dock keeps dissapearing. It is where there are three app icons in the right side than followed by the setting icon an than Tiere are supposed to fit another three app icons in left side. Two are okay while the third keeps getting lost. (Hope you understand what i want to say :( )

2. The Menu when you slide down from top of screen from where settings like wifi, airplane mode, display etc is adjustable does not look too good to me. Could this be somehow adjusted to maybe look a bit more "android-like"? To me it does not even look like it is part of android.

3. Since yesterday ( january 5th ) an update notification is popping up. After downloading i confirm installation, but recovery menu is only showing for about 2 seconds before the boot process starts again. No installation of update and notification won't go away.

That's it for now!

Peaceout
Chris

1. Its the KitKat launchers bug, it happens on stock ROM with that launcher (I know its kinda annoying)

2. Yes, you can change it, go to Settings > ASUS customized settings > Uncheck Use ASUS Quick Setting.

3. Idk about this one...

Dont work GPS .I followed the instructions but nothing .

You bought the WW version and flashed WW version?
GPS only works outdoors.
If WIFI off, the satellites are searched for 2-3 minutes.

To make sure that the GPS is working, you can use the program miniAST.
Instruction is available only in Russian (I am sorry, but I will not translate).
Check the GPS test. If you throw FAIL - service center, PASS - Check the firmware. Can be a problem in the firmware. Does not help - broken shielded, as well the service center.

    NOT Working:

    Needs further work:
    • External Storage, will be available once you take your SDCard off, and insert again.BUT can cause random reboots.
    • BT, will give you FC when you turn on, but it works OK
    • You tell me

In addition to the ROM changelog:
External SDCard: as I said it can cause random reboots, also if you reboot the TAB it can cause bootloops,in this case just remove the SDCard and the TAB will boot just fine. Last case scenario, remove the SDCard and wipe dalvik
Benchmarks: Well its noticeable the increase in speed and less RAM usage on the AOSP Betas.
Some guys are asking me why the Antutu scores are so similar with the stock Asus/And my custom ROM?
Well you should check the ram usage/FPS between the ROMs And since the Aosp doesn't fully support the external SDCard, this will give about less 2k on Antutu scores (Storage IO / database IO)
So... If you really want to compare Antutu scores, remove your External SDCard from the stock Asus/ V1.1r2 Roms.
