Another S8+ here with pink tinge along all edges of the phone (top, bottom, left and right).
That's how mine is... I was going to show the store this thread, but my screen isn't as obvious as some of the pictures in here.

For now I have the feed slider all the way down, as well as the dialing code to lower it to -6

I believe a handful of people going off of limited information have parlayed this in their minds to be something huge and are whipping others up in to a frenzy in support of their unsubstantiated beliefs. But who am I to judge.

Dude shut up. Why would samsung patch something that is not a wide spread issue? Would have been easier to replace those hand full of units then sending out an update to all their s8 phones.

Go troll some where else if you have nothing better to do.

You can be the judge. I've attached what my S8+ look like next to my s7 edge. I am not sure why the iphone camera makes the s7 so green but the s7 edge is perfectly normal and has the best whites.

I've noticed that on the last thumbnail pic, the notification on top of the screen is not reddish. Does the notification pop up always come out white when the screen around it is reddish?

Wait... that's interesting. Seems perfectly white on that picture. In the end it maybe IS a software issue?

Hey guys, look at this;

Here is a side-by-side comparison of my S8+ and S7 Edge;

Hey guys, look at this;

Here is a side-by-side comparison of my S8+ and S7 Edge;
Both phones are set to Adaptive display but in the second pic, I have my S8+ red reduced to max under colour balance.

Up until I got my S8+, I thought my S7 Edge display was perfect, but it seems, the S8+ is actually a little bit better. Also, look at the edges in both pics, seems the edge problem is due to how amoled works and the curve, while the S8+ is slight pik and warm around the edges the S7 Edge is slightly blue/green.

Anyways, based on this comparison; I think I prefer the warmer tone on the S8+ around the edge and I think this also demonstrates that it is likely that a Samsung update will fix this problem for most.

Don't think I got the red tint, but this is the first time I've used an AMOLED display since my Nexus 6, and compared to my LCD iPhone 6S and Honor 8, the basic profile seems very warm compared to what I can achieve on adaptive -- is that right?

He's doing what hes been doing in every other thread, constantly trying to make out it isn't a big issue and doesn't affect a large number of phones. Ignore list is the best option.

The whites on an AMOLED display are ALWAYS going to lean blue, yellow or pink. They are never going to be true whites. But in return, you get inky, dark blacks.

My eyes (as do most people's) prefer the bluish whites. Samsung simply needs to make the AMOLED displays more cool toned. No one seems to mind whites that are bluish. It is the warm toned whites - yellowish and reddish - that people don't like.

Tried exchanging my preorder S8 plus at a store in Tempe, AZ. They were clueless and blamed the pinkish hue on the glass of the screen. They wouldn't exchange it and refuted that the problem even exists.

Sorry, the previous pics I'd taken around 8 this morning, light wasn't great. Just redone them, trying out basic and adaptive colour profiles. Pretty sure I can't see a red tint, but I'll let you judge.

Ah that makes me feel better about the warmer display. In fact, the above picture, the blue tone from the adaptive display looks really blue, compared to basic which looks pretty good.

Thanks for the reply.

Pretty happy with my display - think it's time to give up the Honor 6 and iPhone 6S, now.

Like some of you have mentioned, my screen seems to have a faintish warm tint around the edges and also when you look at it from an angle (from the bottom, or from the top, and the wider the angle the white it gets) and in all honesty, if I wasn't aware of all this situation I wouldn't think any of it and would put all of my findings to roundness angle of screen and viewing orientation at the screen and all that Samsung new red-pixel manufacturing process, which from what I have red, gives it a natural warm-red hue.

When in Adaptive Display, if I tinker with the red slider, I get a colder tone of white, which I did and currently sits that way.

What I find odd, is that if I change to any other display mode, be it, Basic, Cinema, etc, I don't notice any difference. They all seem naturally warm-red to me. Maybe too much. Although to be honest, after a change to, say, Cinema Mode, if I wait a few seconds the hue seems to gradually tone down after a while. Not sure if this really happens, or if it is just "suggestion" from looking at the screen for a while!

Tilt your phone. Mine gets WHITER the more I tilt it. Maybe that's a good sign that it's not affected. Overall, the screen is much warmer than previous phones. I don't like that choice, it almost looks dirty.

    Hey all, i think im the only one who has had the update so far. I had the red tint on the screen, and it was way worse around the edges - the software update cured it after i adjusted the settings for both the display and the edges. So for those saying it can't be fixed, that's just not true. I can't guarantee it will be the same for everyone, but for my phone (which was badly affected, especially on right edge), it worked great. So don't panic yet, wait for the update and see for yourselves before deciding.

    Yesterday I exchanged an S8+ with a red-tinted screen for one without the problem, and the difference is striking. Having now had the chance to compare a number of S8 and S8+ screens (the store staff were really helpful and let me play with display settings on a number of phones), I am fairly convinced that there are two types of screens out there. I'm reasonably tech-literate, have owned pretty much every Samsung and Apple phone released in the last five years, and it was clear from day one that my S8+ had a colouration problem. Got the phone on Monday morning and spent three days reading forums, adjusting every setting (including the red-balance via the dialer code), and even consulted with a friend who is an engineer who specializes in screen technologies. After every attempted fix, I still had a phone with a clear red distortion around the edges of the screen (which would become much more pronounced if you changed the viewing angle in certain directions). The new phone has a perfect screen with no sign of a red tint at all. I don't blame Samsung, as this is a new product and problems happen - especially when you are mass producing screens like these. However, unless people have had an opportunity to look at one with the tint and one without side-by-side, probably best to hold off suggesting that any problem is a result of users screwing with their settings, accidentally turning on the blue-light filter, being overly-obsessive about their screens etc. The staff in the store could also see the difference, and admitted the problem immediately. If you're happy keeping the phone on Adaptive Display with the red-levels turned down, that's fine. I wasn't, and I'm very glad I swapped out the phone.
