System Updater is ? working here. Since I got my CN based RM5G, until now v2.59 it's still working perfectly.

Hi XDA,

Well, this is my first thread to clarify my identity. As many people asked, yes I'm working for Nubia and responsible for all the tech support and related stuff, including the system update and some of the development work.

I'm here with my personal account to provide UN-OFFICIAL support to all the users around the world. I hope through my effort people can enjoy the RedMagic series smartphone. And I also hope developers around the world can use our phone to make better ROMS. Due to some of the regulation and restriction most of the time I can't provide a direct answer, however I can give you some tips and hints to solve it. So please don't push me too hard.

Because my works on XDA is not officially supported by the company so I can't check the XDA very often. If you got a question just @me in your post, try not to send PM because it makes more time for me to answer. If you have Telegram group related to Nubia, you can invite me @yinzicong to join, it is better to get messages on Telegram.

Jerry question? What I enjoy about high end cellphones are 5 things. Root access. Large size statis bar. Custom kernels. Overclocking. And most of all custom ROMs. I also hate things that pollute the screen like indisplay fingerprint reader an pinhole an teardrop camera.

Given my preferences thos phone ticks most of my boxs except 1. I bought the 2019 red magic 3 an had a terrible experience of softbricking it for 4 months.

It was unbricked by a very helpful young chap on xda that compiled an unbricking software that fixed it in minutes.


I gave it to my partner as it scared the hell out of me an development stopped because around the world everyone had weeks an months of bricks.

So about the one box unchecked by red magic 3 an red magic 5g.

Are there any fully working GSI or custom roms that actually boot on this device?

I'm thinking given my preferences the oneplus 7 pro for a similar price might be a better option for me? Or even thw poco f2 prk

Am I right?

I'm having issues with the caller app. Whenever I call or receive calls, it doesn't show the caller ID, only the number.

Is there a workaround for this?

@cavjr08 yes for cn rom i don't know what's the latest, but i'm using a european rom and v.4.09 is installed. But I saw v.4.11 on the internet. But in the system updater, v.4.09 is the current one. The new update cannot be found. Ask me before you write a S***

As clearly stated in my replies, I have a CN version of the RM5G. No idea for your EU version bru.

As far as I know there is no unbrick tool. How did you bricked your red magic 5g. I don't understand you there is not even an unbrick tool and you are experimenting with the device.

It would be good to be able to drag down on the wallpaper to view notifications.
China ROM included this but it doesn't appear to be on the Global ROM.

You can update through fota. The SD card file is for recovery only
