Haven't played with the Redmi 3, but I've had the 5x for 3 days now. I'm surprised to say that I'm actually enjoying it. It's got really good battery life, and I'm impressed with the build quality. Best phone for the price on the market

I looked at the Redmi Note 3 Pro as an option. It is a great phone and I love the 650 chip. For the US no LTE support. So you have a state of the art phone with -1 generation of network access. The primary use of a smart phone is network access, so I went with the Honor 5x.

It has exceeded my expectations in build quality, battery life. Finger print reader is fast and accurate. Don't underestimate the fingerprint reader, it is something that you will use many times during the day. With a decent charger you get acceptable charge times.

The camera is missing stabilization, there is no NFC or IR blaster. Camera software is okay, but so much better is available. If that is important to you look elsewhere, or for the camera get an app. They are not critical for me.

EUMI has been a surprise. I first wanted to get rid of it ASAP, and unlocked my phone. But in the intervening time I have found some great features, and gotten used to the interface. Jury is still out, but EUMI is much better than iOS or some of the Samsung tweaks. And - this is the most important part - Honor is making it easy to unlock and move to your flavor of choice.

At $200 and with my Newegg 10% off coupon and free 32GB SD, this is a no brainer. Get a decent tempered glass screen. No idea why Honor did not add $5 to deal with this short fall.

And check out Honor presence at XDA and other sites. Do you have Xamani (or the arrogant Apple and Samsung) doing that? Good things to come, they are watching and being helpful.

I won't buy any Xiaomi devices as there is no real warranty next door and I don't want to wait 3 weeks or a month to get it repaired... ^^

Huawei Honor is a brand we can trust on with good quality devices for a fair price.
