Nexus Player APK Collection Thread

As requested by many users, here is a thread with a collection of APKs sourced from the Nexus Player. Many of these APKs are sourced so users outside of the US can download them.
All of the APKs are hosted on MEGA and mirrored on FileDropper. PM if a link goes down. If you have anything to contribute please do.

I will try to keep these apps updated regularly - let me know if an app need updating.
(Let me know if you want any other apps added to this list as well.)

Information
As sideloaded apps are not updated by the Nexus Player, it is desirable to install directly from the Play Store. (Visit this thread for any apps that are missing from this list.)

US (Locale) APPs

Misc. (Hidden) APPs
  • Live TV Download (MEGA) V1.1.0.1643104
  • Google Cast Receiver Download (MEGA) v25525

Other. (ALT.) APPs

  • All Nexus Player (Default) System Apps Download (MEGA)

Hmm, so when you install the Netflix APK it seems it won't be manually updated. I think I have the same version linked in the OP, 1.0.1 build 110.

I will contact APKMirror and ask if they can also mirror the leanback version of Netflix.

Edit: Actually when I went into Play Store > Entertainment Apps I could see Netflix there. Entered and pressed update. Got 1.0.2 build 121.

I see you got the HBO Go app from fire tv, anyway you could get the fire TVs pbs video app? There is two apps out there I think one for kindles and one for fire TV and I'd love to have the fire TVs one as its much more TV friendly obviously and we don't have one on the play store, we have pbs kids but not pbs itself.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone knows of a VPN app that will work with these leanback versions of apps?

I'm located in Canada and would like to access US Netflix. Running either of the 2 VPN apps I have will work fine on the regular-non-leanback version of Netflix, but not on the leanback version posted in this thread. Any ideas? I'm running Lollirock 2.0 on the Nexus Player.

Thanks!

Not sure about VPN mate, so sorry there, but a VPN adds a lot of overhead to your connection by routing all traffic through and would never be as fast as a DNS which is way way easier to setup. Have you considered this option? If you are set on using a VPN it would be hard to find a specific app to Leanback Netflix you would probably have to find one that enables app based routing and as far as I know there aren't any decent ones from the top of my head...

Hey thanks for the reply.

I'm not set on using anything and since VPN don't work, I'm willing to try anything.

Can you give me more information on setting up DNS?

Ok so Firstly I might just explain whats the difference between a VPN and a DNS. There are many disadvantages for people who choose to use A VPN Service when streaming, downloading or accessing blocked/region-restricted content however, the main disadvantage of using a VPN Service is VPN’s are slower than a DNS Proxy.
Because when you connect to a website via a VPN, all of your network traffic is being sent and re-routed through the VPN. This basically slows down ALL of your Internet traffic which results in a very slow and poor quality stream (or download) from the intended website in this case Netflix. Rather with a DNS only some traffic is directed to the US and thus its very fast. - This is explanation overlooks many technical aspects but it gives you a general idea never use a VPN to stream content is reduces speed significantly.

Now changing the DNS is dead simple, its under the settings menu of the Nexus Player, follow this guide to change the DNS - http://ausdroid.net/howto/setup-nexus-player-custom-dns-side-load-apps/

But first you will need a DNS Service they generally cost about $3 a month (CAD) and are available online, I use Getflix which is Australian and has Australian Servers and Australian Billing so you are probably going to want to find a Canadian Option. A quick Google Search found Unotelly and UnblockUS.

So simply follow these Steps-
1. Buy DNS Service
2. Follow Steps in guide to enter DNS Service
3. Watch Netflix

- Dead Easy Right?
That's why DNS is preferred over VPN, easier, faster and cheaper :)

Let me know if you have any issues...
