I have an i9505, in Brazil, I bought this used device, it only connects in 2G (edge), with rom stock or custom rom. Could a different modem solve this problem?

Go to this thread, as this one is all but dead ... https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3315987
There are some KitKat modems there, but I don't think this particular one.

This message is addressed to anyone that may be unsure about what freaking modem they should flash or how to flash.

New bootloader (KNOX sh*t) => you need to flash LTE modems that are newer than XXUBMH1 (like, for example, a very recent LTE modem such as XXUFNB9). Otherwise, sound / Wi-Fi may break.
Old bootloader (no KNOX :highfive:) => you need to flash exactly the following LTE modem and no other : XXUBMH1. Otherwise, sound / Wi-Fi may break.

No sound, seem to have wi-fi after doing an update that got my phone to work with my provider. Where exactly would I get XXUFNB9? The closest to finding it has been at h t t p :// d-h.st/f99 but I can't seem to be able to download this file.

You do realize the post you quoted is over FOUR YEARS OLD, right?

It is likely that most download links have expired, and nobody bothered to make new ones. Because this phone is obsolete now... You could download the full XXUFNB9 ROM and extract the modem yourself. If you can find one... I see even SamMobile doesn't have links older than 2015.

I suggest you flash something like Resurrection Remix, and follow the instructions there (obviously, a much newer modem).

But anyway, I don't see why you'd still want to use XXUFNB9 now. It's pretty dated...

Sorry. I wanted to flash the XXUFNB9 LTE modem because of ignorance on my part.

My experience with custom ROMs is with just two other phones and they were not Samsung. My adjusted mental model of how this works was incomplete and I did not understand the big picture. I saw that there's a Optimized LineageOS 14.1 ROM, installed it with Heimdall, it didn't work with my carrier, figured out I needed to upgrade the modem, settled on I9505XXUHOE2 (again, because I didn't know any better), tried it and it fixed my issues connecting to my carrier but it broke the sound. Then I saw your comment, "Old bootloader (no KNOX :highfive:) => you need to flash exactly the following LTE modem and no other : XXUBMH1. Otherwise, sound / Wi-Fi may break.", and instead of concluding that I may need to upgrade the bootloader I concluded that I needed to downgrade the LTE modem to XXUFNB9.

Again, it was only ignorance on my part. I should have spent slightly more time studying this process.

Anyway, I found a thread with bootloaders and modems and settled on XXUHQC1. I decided Odin looked easier to use than Heimdall so I booted up Windows (which may have been the most painful part of the process). I flashed the modems and the bootloader. It didn't work. I tried again and it worked but my sound remained broken.

I then decided to try out your Resurrection Remix suggestion. For some reason this appears to have fixed my issues. I haven't explored it much yet (because I only just installed it) but I think it looks promising.

Thank you for your help and for your Resurrection Remix suggestion. Also, if you don't mind being thanked 4 years after the fact, thank you for your brief guide to flashing modems. :good:

I have been out of the loop for quite a while, I don't remember what the exact issue was, but I do know that some modems liked some bootloaders and not others. Which you got to experience first hand :silly:

Glad to hear your issues have been resolved! You're welcome. Stick to the latest bootloader and the latest modem. Also, go for ROMs that are based on LineageOS, or based on Android 7.1+) in general. Resurrection Remix is great. I'm sure there are other alternatives, but you'll have to scour the forums in order to find what's best for you. I already have to do that burden myself, for the OnePlus 3

I have tried many times to download these files that I need, but I did not succeed.
On the DevHost page I tried clicking on all the links, but no one downloads the file, they only come out of publicity:eek:.
Can anyone explain how to download files from DevHost, or can you give me an alternative link? (For example, Android Host)
Thank you in advance :fingers-crossed:

See my post #6333 for a link to a site with recent modems/bootloaders (not just KitKat). All the links in this thread are dead (as is the thread itself ...).

Please help which modem file for SCH-I545

I am rooted and went from JellyBean to CM12.1 a few months ago.
I noticed my battery drain is enormous at times with the phone being hot.
Also the internet and phone signal drop at times too.
I read where a modem update to the phones radio might be needed since I wouldn't have gotten those the way i updated. Can someone please tell me the right modem/radio updates I could use?

Was curious about not getting sounds while in a call about text messages. Call waiting tone works.

Samsung Galaxy S4 SCH-I545 Verizon USA
CM12.1
Android 5.1.1
i545VRUAMDK
I can give any details that are needed if I haven't provided enough. Thanks
