I have a Galaxy S with stock 2.2 ROM and Voodoo lagifx. The phone version is I9000XXJPP. The phone has never had a custom rom flashed before.

If I understand this correctly, all I need to do is disable the voodoo lagfix, follow the instuctions on page one, and then flash any ginger rom from CWM.

Is it really that easy?

I had a lot of problem (bad flashing) because of Odin.

I advise using :
[PROGRAM] Heimdall - Open-Source Cross-Platform Flashing Suite (1.2.0 Available)
To flash.

Put your phone in Download Mode :

- Switch off phone
- Press and hold Vol. down and Home button
- Power the phone on
- Once you see a Droid digging and the Test "DO NOT SWITCH OFF TARGET", let go off all the buttons.
- Plug the USB cable in your computer.

If you can't access Download Mode, do not go further, and read this before :
[110% SAFE] 3-Button Combo FiX for Selected/ALL Firmwares

Just put :
- zImage as Kernel (zImage)
- boot.bin as "Primary Bootloader"
- Sbl.bin as "Secondary Bootloader"

And hit Start !

If all is well, you can now boot in recovery
Samsung Galaxy S Clockwork Mod Recovery Mode

I have SGS with Froyo custom ROM installed. The problem is that I bought this phone with this custom ROM installed and I don't know which one is it (except that it's Froyo). I know that it has lagfix but not Voodoo but via ClockWork Mod.
I'd like to switch to Gingerbread ROM but I can't because as I understand, I have to flash this before flashing any Gingerbread custom ROM. Can someone please explain what I have to do? I have read the whole thread but I'm still not sure what to do...
