Man this write up scared the hell out of me. Mine only needed tar1. if I followed your instructions I had no screen after flashing tar2. It should say if you have a screen after flashing tar1 then insert jig and you're done..... do not flash tar2 otherwise you will have no screen at all.

I finally got the urge and did this with the jig i had ordered and it worked. Scarry at times and thought i messed up but forgot about the no screen in the last steps.
Isnt the counter supposed to be zero instead on No? Not really sure what factory said

This did not work for me, but I just found something else that DID:

I installed the new Sheep ROM V2.0 (KL7) which includes a stock kernel, and no more yellow triangle for me!

I forget how to check the binary counter, but I didn't see any counter on the screen when I went into download mode...

Note: if you use Mobile Odin pro to flash the ROM, you can pre-root it, and then it's easy to flash a different kernel after.

There is another thread that says exactly that - flashing stock kernel (zImage) removes the yellow triangle but does not reset the counter. What is the binary counter value for you in download mode?

As I said above, I did not see ANY counter displayed in download mode - not sure how to find it....
If id didn't work for you then you probably didn't follow the guide correctly... I just did it and it reset my binary download counter from 4 to 0.

When you enter the download mode it should show:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-N7000
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: NO <-- this is the counter - NO means 0, otherwise it shows a number

tested working, just follow each step exactly.

Note that was flashed with XXLA3 stock rom with XXLA1 CF Root Kernel. then used the Jig to reset counter. Working fine.
I have stock rom xxla3 and original kernel xxla3, but usb jig does not reset counter.

So what do i have to downgrade?

Is this j1.tar old bootloader or what?

And finaly at the end is it upgrade bootloader required?

Amazing stuff. Had some doubts at first (black screen stuff) but it worked out well. Counter is reset, yellow triangle is gone ^_^.
