It will work., I was on the custom latest firmwares (rom, kernel) when I flashed to remove triangle.
I consider myself an advanced user. But it easy to become confused.
Because it's not only "screen" will not work!...
Also will not work sound, and lights., so even I got confused, the first impression is your phone is "dead". No restarting sound, no lights, nothing working ...
I even imagined in the mind, in what mode the phone is now, but it still does not help
So long story short I was able to connect my phone to Odin after 13 times I tried.

As the screen is all black during steps 7-10, I have two questions:-
(i) I presume the phone is still connecting to pc with the USB cable during steps 7-10, am I right?
(ii) How do I know if each step is completed? Merely based on timimg each step?

it seems we have to depend on the timing itself. But will the PC not recognize when an external device is plugged in? Anyways, will be able to know today after the procedure is done (by evening)!!
How can any of you think flashing a SGS2 bootloader will give you your warranty back?
Sure, the counter is reset. .. But you loaded a bootloader that dont even exsist with the Note.. Like no one could tell your running a outdated Sbl on newer firmware, from a sgs2?
Dont make sense to me and to risk a potential brick with this method should not be recommended...

Doesn't restart after flashing the 2nd tar file. Help!!!
edit: i restarted after pulling out battery & it worked. Checked the same by entering the download mode!!
If i update to the latest stock rom thru kies, will i get the new bl?
Also, from now on, for resetting the counter after each flash (with old bl of course in case of rom), old method of plugging in the jig would be sufficient or this whole process has to be repeated?

If I understand this correctly, tar 2 is the newer bootloader again.
Even if its not, doesnt the bootloader get flashed when you flash a stock firmware from ODIN?

Another noob question.....I have cf-root la4. If I flash stock la4 rom with pc odin, will it change my binary count ?

Yes this is correct. Your Galaxy Note bootloader returned after this procedure.
jscurtu, there is absolutely no chance to detect this binary reset at service center!
& this will work with LA1??? This is bcoz i am having overheating problem with the current firmware. Would like to check if the newer firmware solves the issues!!
Read elsewhere that the rooting of LA1 is not possible if done thru pc odin.
Will it be possible if i follow these steps...
- flash the firmware JPLA1 thru odin as usual
- flash the speedmod kernel from odin as usual (this will give me y.t & +1 increment)
- do THIS procedure to clear the counter & y.t

Please read the thread title. This method does not depend on your current firmware. You may have stock, ics, cyanogen, miui and any other firmware.
my sgs2 does not boot anymore! it seems that it is bricked! I did all the steps as written here is there a chance to bring it alive again?

Does it still turn on? Or is it completly dead? You know that you just flashed a secondary bootloader for the Note on your SGS2 with the 2nd tar right?! I am not sure this method works for the sgs2...my sgs2 does not boot anymore! it seems that it is bricked! I did all the steps as written here

I performed the whole procedure and something strange happened:
After step 6 the boot was normal and the phone booted normally.
I restarted it in download mode, the screen was not black, the counter was at 0 and indicated as original firmware.
I installed the file and 2.tar, then yes, the screen went black, but it booted and it worked.
I installed again 1.tar and everything now works, starting with the image and without triangle.
I ask, can I leave with 1.tar installed?
