Yes you can, but for what? This method already tested and works with LA3.

Because the newer bootloader may have some minor improvement?

Edit:
I've tried to flash the LA3 Sbl.bin tar'd, but it stuck.
Fortunately, pressing the power button long it triggered Odin to "FAIL".
Then I could flash 2.tar from your archive.
After flashing it, I needed to take out the battery as stated in the FAQ.
Now everything seems to work well.

Good luck and pls note, after the flash of the friendly bootloader, there will be a point of no return. You have to do all this things blindly.
If you are finished it, so you can get the screen back with the flash of the unfriendly bootloader.

Yes I bricked also my phone with the Abyss kernel v1.1 (from ICS leak).
But for now please do not blame assignments.
