I just tried it on stock LA6 and can confirm it indeed does not root the device.

sorry m8, i tried it on ddkk3 and it worked....if it did not worked, then unlockroot.exe will certainly works...give a shot to that!

old superone was already working for older rom of note
New rom kl4 n new are non rootable with older superclick
Dont know abt new version of superoneclick

Your said 2.3.3 superclick is jan 12 realesed, And it is well known fact, superoneclick/zergrush/unlockroot watever is working till *KL3 only.
You have tried on KK3, so thats why it worked.
So this won't work on newer ROM of galaxy Note.

My friend got one recently.

Because SuperOne have added zergRush Exploit in latest version, which is only best working exploit for galaxy Note.
but better to go with latest version of zergRush Exploit (DoomLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit (zergRush Exploit)
ChainFire also using this.
