Refurbished vs New HD+

I have 2 HD+ models, one bought new from best buy and one bought refurb from 1saleaday.com and I haven't noticed any functional differences between them. Even buying a new HD+ at $150 seems like a great deal. I did quickly replace the stock rom on both with CM 10.1. :)

I just received my refurbished unit yesterday and it looks and acts like new. It does have the bad emmc chip however. I plan on running CM 10.1.3 so hopefully I won't have any issues. It did not have any problem booting off the SD and I backed up the stock system before and after registering. Will probably put CM on it this weekend after testing out the stock interface a bit.

Sp, I am purchasing 2 of them for my kdis thsi year for christmas, preowned, from ebay, from BlueProtron. I have no desire to root their devices- I am just getting them their own so they can stay off mine :)

If i do happen to get one of the bad chips, and if I don't plan on rooting, will I experiance any negative side effects?

I have also purchased one from BlurProton yesterday and have the same question. Really appreciated any answers. :)
In hand my Refur NOOK HD+ for nearly 1 weeks now, I have nothing to complaint about it. You definitely cannot differentiate the Ref and Brandnew ones. Now I am on CM 10.1 and planning to purchase more from Blueproton.
However, it still has the bad EEMC chip. :(

Just refrain from running trim and you will be OK. If you start to see lag you can do a backup and restore to sort it out.

I bought one new for myself, and a 'refurb' for a friend. The only difference I noticed when setting them up is that the refurb doesn't keep grip of the charger cable in the same way as the new one does.
