I have an older laptop that can't boot from usb. Is there any way to start the install from cd and then install the rest from usb? I would need the 32bit version. I want it to be the only os, NOT dual boot.

I have a stand alone device and love the os

You could try:
plop bootmanager.. use the ISO then burn it to cd.. boot the plop cd (with usb stick connected) --choose--> boot USB stick
-you could also try.. the floppy version (if your pc has one)
