Yes Tio, when I kept pattern or pin or any,it reads perfectly, but when I tried to unlock,it won't unlocks, always shows incorrect even with correct one also. I don't know why this happened......
BTW anyway to read a lock of my rooted android to see that if it unlocks? As of now,I removed all lock by deleting locksettings.db,and I didn't kept any lock still.....
Should I want to replace any files from stock firmware?

In simple words,my android is not accepting even the correct lock.
Is there any way to read what else the lock ? Or is there any way to set a lock by using ADB shell?

If you using custom rom maybe rom problem, if using stock I don't know what could have happened, maybe trying to start clean (flash stock rom clean)

additionally:
I have to do this whole **** every time I want to restore an encrypted nandroid backup from my FIRST moto z to my SECOND moto z manually (after entering the correct decryption password in TWRP). It works on Android 9! Additionally I have to remove the fingerprint, when doing the above szenario
So I fave to delete the following as well:
/data/fpc/
/data/system/users/0/fpdata/ (0 stands for the user, 0 is standard)
/data/system/users/0/settings_fingerprint.xml (0 stands for the user, 0 is standard)
Works....

I followed the instructions and i still cant decrypt when i delete the the locksettings.db.locksettings.db-shm.locksettings.db-wal.( i dont have any .key files under data/system) and reboot the previous unlock code is gone and i can swipe up to get in but the phone gets stuck at "phone is starting" and wont progress i can enter the setting menu, pull down notifications etc but even if i do that i still get no where please help id hate to think i spent money on a phone that cant fully use lineageos due to twrp errors. im running pie on mi mix 2s latest lineageos.

Would re flashing a diffrent recovery fix things?

Hi five man. I lost my data. Got encrypted with unknown password (oneplus 5t running oxygen os 9.0.10 on pie 9.0) after deleting the mentioned files in the first post.

This method is dependent on a few factors,

If the device is encrypted you will not be able to read the data without it being decrypted. If you are using a newer device such as a pixel 3 that has a security chip the lockscreen/boot sequence has been offloaded to the chip as well. I have not verified if the OEM unlock also negates the fact the module that handles your lock screen would be accessible as it is its own entity.

It didn't work for me and on data/system folder, there are only 3 folders. 2 for the key folders and 1 locksetting folder. Deleted all three folders and still getting the password at lockscreen. I guess I need to do a clean format..

Hi. Noob here.

I'm locked out of my pixel 5. Can anyone assist with how to:

- Install TWRP and;
- Does the OEM unlock need to be on for this method to work?

Thank you

Thank you soo much this worked flawlessly

Although I could only find a single file name and nothing else , I still deleted it in good faith and it worked like a charm. Thank you soo much. You saved soo much time and brainstorming!!

Recently when i restored my data using TWRP i faced a problem at lock screen.
I was not able to unlock my phone with the pin i set Earlier..So after so many attempts i was able to find a solution for that problem.(works with pattern, pin etc)
    650x300x2016-02-01-17.24.56-650x300.png.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.mMj7EJhi9_.png

    Requirements
    -----------------

    1. A phone That cant be unlocked witha your Pin/Pattern :p
    2.Any custom recovery installed(TWRP i will say)..Get TWRP from https://twrp.me/Devices/

    Steps
    -------

1.Once You installed twrp boot into recovery mode.
2.Go to advanced>filemanager to acces the files in your phone.
    300x533xTWRP-home.png.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.X120HbFRU1.png

3.Ggo to the /data/system folder. Scroll down and find the two files with the .key extension. Delete both of them (by tapping on the file and then tapping the Delete button). Then, delete all the files containing the word locksettings.

    • password.key
    • pattern.key
    • locksettings.db
    • locksettings.db-shm
    • locksettings.db-wal
    300x533xTWRP-pinreset1.png.pagespeed.gp+jp+jw+pj+js+rj+rp+rw+ri+cp+md.ic.ghmGs8Z_4t.png

Once youve deleted all the key and locksettings files, reboot your system. If it asks you to install SuperSU, choose Do Not Install.

Once Android starts, your lock screen should appear, with no PIN or password prompt. Unlock your phone (yay!) :highfive: :fingers-crossed: and head to Androids Settings. Scroll down and go to Security > Screen Lock. From there, you can choose a new PIN or password to lock your phone.

Hope this helped you..Hot Thanks if this was helpful :)

    dirty flash doen't work
    when I delete only:

    gatekeeper.password.key
    gatekeeper.pattern.key

I can get in again, but I can't set a new lockscreen...

    when I delete also:

    locksettings.db
    locksettings.db-shm
    locksettings.db-wal

    I can't get in anymore...

only wiping data, cache and dalvik works (clean flash)

could this be a problem with system profile settings?
(disable lockscreen when wifi is connected)

Nope I don't guess so...didn't faced a problem like this..I would say report it to original developer of ROM ... I tried this method on almost 8 ROMs and all went well
