I've been using this ROM since just after it was released. It's first class.

My only issue is that I don't get any phone connection prompt when I plug it in to my PC (Win 7).

The PC doesn't register that a device has been plugged in.

The phone does seem to charge from USB, but nothing else.

Anybody else seen this, or know how to fix it?

Thanks.

Did you install HTC sync?
At least you need the HTC drivers.

Seems like one time you marked the "Don't ask this question again"
When selection what to do..

Try Settings->Connect to PC-> Mark "Ask me" :)

I wish it was as simple as that, but no.

The default connection type is disk drive, but I have the option selected to ask me when connected.
Nothing happens on the phone or the PC (except the phone starts charging).

I used to have HTC Sync installed, but even if I don't have the correct drivers installed on my PC, it should still:
A - see the "disk drive"
B - even if the phone is in "PC" mode, the PC should show that something has been plugged in, and ask me for the drivers if they aren't installed. But it does nothing...

Try searching the forum for "USB Brick".. Could be what you are a victim of..
Thanks for that.

I've seen the thread on this form for USB unbricking, but I can't even get to the first step "fastboot oem....." as the PC simply doesn't think that anything is connected!

I get "waiting for device..."

I see your kernel but I prefer stay with the stock one just adding the cifs module... is it possible or this way I miss other kenrel feature to make the smb work?

also, what about my error?

U can also copy just cifs.ko from my custor kernel update and push it over to your system from within recovery mode.

OK, then make a dir let say /data/lib/modules and copy cifs.ko there. You can even put it on your sdcard and load it from there afterwards. It doesn't actually matter where it is or from where it is loaded.
