Yes
I'm really sorry about resurrecting this really old thread, but I have done this my self.
Refer to the teardown guide on iFixit.com
The atrix 4g is actually not to painful to teardown and put back together without destroying it. This is actually why I chose this smartphone over all of the new smartphones out there. It's cheap used on eBay, and it still works great. It also has great root support here on xda.
MY ADVICE THAT IF YOU WANT TO REPLACE THE DIGITIZER:
Be very careful of the tiny cable at the top of the digitizer (towards the earpiece of the phone). If you order a replacement online, be sure NOT to bend that cable at all until you are putting it into your phone. When you do have to bend the cable into place in the chassis, do so VERY gently. I have ruined many digitizers doing this very haphazardly.
It is also helpful to take the LCD out of the chassis. In fact, take everything out of the chassis until just the plastic frame is left. Then, you can very carefully place the digitizer and reassemble.

It works great ONLY if you use the right ROM for your needs. As it is stock, it is worthless. But Neutrino ROM is by far my favorite. But that's my personal preference.
