You can download a CM7 rom, open it with winrar or 7zip, browse to system/app and get your wanted sms app.
Then put it on your phone (root required) in system/app and set the permissions the same like all the other apps in that folder.
Make a backup of your phone before doing this, in case anything goes wrong

I'm always trying to make stock MMS app to work in cm.

I will try to extract mms.apk from cm7 but i'm not that sure if it will work on stock ( adrenaline rom ) -_-
