First of all, I apologise if this is the wrong section, would the mods kindly move it to the right forum. Cheers.

I don't know about you but myself and many of my friends have a facebook addicition, having a facebook has become pretty common in today's times yet access to it needs to be simpler.
I was disappointed when Microsoft released their Facebook application which lacked a today screen plugin unlike their Windows Live software.

So with the dawn of Windows Mobile 6.5 and the new today interface I was wondering if any experienced developers would create a facebook panel. The current one is lacking in usability, it is nothing more than an application launcher.
With most advanced panels such as CHome and TitaniumWeathe rsurely it can be done.

I was thinking the panel could have several pages including;
• Status Page (Default Page) with the icon either being your current picture (not sure how easy this would be) or the facebook profile icon.
• Notifications page showing the latest notification and number of notications received.
• Message Page showing if any messages are recieved and who from withe subject (like the email panel).
• Wall Page like the message but for the wall instead.
• Friend requests showing friend requests if any.

The overall panel when not selected/highlighted could show the number of all posts, messages, friend requests recieved similar to CHome or TitaniumNotifier(with little pictures and the number).

The problem is using the facebook API which i'm not sure how easy it is to use however i'm sure the experienced devs could figure it out.
For the status and notifications there are RSS feeds that could be used to obtain the latest update for the status and notifications respectively.

Later on in the day i'll post come pictures of mock ups and some icons that could be used within the application, that is if anyyone is up to developing the panel.

Well, lets see where this goes...
Hyped ;)

(I'm aware there is no Message icon, I found a hi-res icon pack in the internet with facebook icons however it missed a message icon. The author says he does requests for a small fee so if this app was in the process of being made, I would contact him about the request)

This is a quick mock up of how I'd like the application to look, as you can see it displays notifications similar to TitaniumNotifier and then once highlighted, there will be pages displaying the latest notification or if any have been recieved.

Seeing some of the plugins already created for both facebook and titanium surely it can't be that hard. Even I can create a basic application launcher one but I wouldn't know how to go about making something as advanced as this.

I assume you would require a background application to collect and update the plugin accordingly as follows.

Status Page: Displays current status as collected from the Facebook API

Notifications page: Displays current number of notifications from Facebook API (If = 0 then "No New Notifications", = 1 then latest notification displayed from Notifications RSS feed, > 1 then 'X new notifications.' displayed.

Wall Page: Displays current number of wall posts from Facebook API (If = 0 then "No New Wall Posts", = 1 then latest wall post displayed from API, > 1 then 'X new wall posts.' displayed.

Message Page: Displays current number of wall posts from Facebook API (If = 0 then "No New Messages", = 1 then latest message displayed from API, > 1 then 'X new messages.' displayed.

Pokes: Displays current number of pokes from Facebook API (If = 0 then "No New Pokes", = 1 then latest poke displayed from API, > 1 then 'X people have poked you.' displayed.

Friend Requests: Displays current number of requests from Facebook API (If = 0 then "No New Friend Requests", = 1 then latest request and who from displayed from API, > 1 then 'X new friend requests.' displayed.

I'm currently photoshopping some more screenshots of how each page would look. They're fairly straight forward looking pages. They'll just be helpful for any updates.

Please don't let this request fade into the forum. I think this application would prove useful to me and many Windows Mobile facebook users alike.

Here are some mock ups of what the actual 'pages' would look like...

Profile Page

Notifications showing 0, 1 and 2

Wall showing 0, 1 and 2

Friend Requests showing 0, 1 and 2

Again, there is no message page due to no message icon but you can image one ;)

Come on, please, I have all faith that someone on this forum can create such an app and I wouldn't see why you wouldn't. It'd be one of the most useful plugins for Windows Mobile 6.5!

Please, if anyone is interested, feel free to private message me.

as i declared before, i would be happy to migrate such plugin (or a 6.1 today plugin) into my software, FIM, if someone else takes the lead to maintain such plugin and provide me instructions of his needs (or better - a c# class) from my software.
it shouldn't be so hard considering my app already taking care of chat, notifications, inbox, and status updates

It should be done as a service, not an application running on the background. I think a service will consume much less resources and will run smoother. If this information can be obtain by rss feed then, there is already an rss feed plugin. I think is the one with a clock or something. A plugin like this one or the ones with the weather could be possible modified for this purpose.

To be honest I am not a big facebook fun. But since smart phones are not phone, but, communication devices, they should provide information constantly, provided they have a flat Internet plan, without the need to run third party applications.
