Hello,

I bought a Zenfone 3 Deluxe ZS570KL Gold with the Snapdragon 821 and 64 GB of ROM.
In my country this device is exclusive of a carrier, but it works with every other carrier. The problem is that the dual SIM feature is disabled.
I can't flash the official Worldwide firmware because the recovery has a different SKU, specific to the carrier in question.
I would like to flash the original recovery, in order to install the official worldwide firmware, but I can't find it on internet.
Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance.

I managed to flash the original firmware using fastboot. I converted system.new.dat to system.img by using this tool.
Now the device's SKU is WW, which is right. The problem is that the second SIM doesn't work anyway.

I flashed everything from the archive with fastboot, but the dual SIM settings menu doesn't appear.
By the way, the phone model is Z016S, while the "normal" one is Z016D. Perhaps the "S" stands for "single" and the "D" for "double"?

You could go to zentalk forums and report your problem over there, sadly with no bootloader for 5.7, we can't do much here until then. 5.5 is the only lucky for one for now to have unlock bootloader.

An ASUS Live Chat operator said that my specific model doesn't have hardware support for the second SIM, the problem isn't just software.
I guess I'll have to replace the phone with the right model...

Hello !
I'm also looking to change SKU on my ZS570KL Z016S.
From SKU_TIM to SKU_WW.
I already converted system.new.dat to system.img.

1) What are all the files list to flash ?
system.img ; boot.img ?

2) Does the recovery partition need SKU matching with system.img ?
If yes, where to find recovery.img with SKU_WW ?

3) How to dump all my partitions images before flash ?
I want to backup my img with SKU_TIM if possible.

Thank you very much !

Why not just download the system image from Asus support?
Asus provide only zip image for SKU_WW and I have SKU_TIM.
I think the phone does not allow officially to flash a different SKU.

I don't know the good procedure to switch from SKU_TIM_4.11.40.1070 to SKU_WW_4.12.40.1698
Asus bootloader unlock tool is finaly out but require FW version 4.12.40.1698 and above.
Can you help me ? Thank you very much !

After preliminary investigation, I see that the SKU is defined in firmware emmc_appsboot.mbn & translated to the android prop via init in boot.img.
I'm a very beginner with Android.
I installed ADB and Fastboot and everything works.
I can read properties with ADB :
[ro.build.asus.sku]: [TIM]
[ro.config.CID]: [TIM]
[ro.product.carrier]: [IT-ASUS_Z016S-TIM_Z016]
[ro.build.csc.version]: [TIM_ZS570KL_4.11.40.1070_20160922]

I'm looking to switch SKU from TIM to WW
I can't unlock bootloader because tool require FW version 4.12.40.1698 and above.
No one provides updates for the SKU TIM.

Now I downloaded your bootstock.img and recovery.img for SD820.
I converted system.img from official Asus system.new.dat (WW_4.12.40.1698).

What is the best way to change SKU ? (ZS570KL SD820 64GB)
Thank you very much !

You could make a guide of how did you change the sku? Thanks so much. I'm not able

Hallo Kitnoos,
finally I have de-brand the zf3d w/o unlock the bootloader, w/o any data loss, just hold the breath for 5 minutes

I've used sdat2img.py for convert the asus system.dat to system.img, looking for some guide here on xda... the required files are system.transfer.list and system.new.dat...
Now the phone tell me "WW.4.12.40.1698.20161228"... bye bye sku TIM :laugh:

Hello !
Have you just converted system.dat to system.img(Raw EXT4) with sdat2img.py ?
Or after that you have converted system.img(Raw EXT4) to system.img with img2simg.exe ?

What is the size of the final system file you have flashed ?

Thank you very much !

i've used only sdat2img.py, because img2simg.exe won't work on my win10 virtualized...
then I've flashed system.new.img in fastboot mode, just "fastboot flash system system.new.img"

system.new.img is 4.026.286.080 byte (4,03 GB on disk)

enjoy your WW sku

Yes in Z016S, "S" is for Single :

Maybe it's not in the hardware and we can activate dual sim in the boot after unlock, like frequency band ?
