Is there any way to backup a ROM currently on the phone in order to refalsh it later? I guess a direct bit by bit copy.

Sasimhi seems somewhat complicated if you want to backup everything that you need...i.e, Applications, files, registry settings, OS settings, etc.

I think your best bet would be something like Spb Backup. It wont back up your actual Rom but it can perform a full or partial backup of all your installed programs and settings. The only down side is that you need to restore on exactly the same Rom that you performed the backup on or it could make the system a bit unstable. You can perform a restore on a different Rom but I wouldnt personally advise it.

Mark.

Ok, thanks mskip. I'll give it a try and see how well it works out.

I just care most about not having to reconfigure and registering applications that I use like SPB Finance, SPB Phone Suite, pTravelAlarm, etc.

Hi - I think the First Post may have a typo in it.
To check the HardSPL version, I needed to have my phone turned "ON". The First Post indicates that the device should be turned OFF. I am embarrassed to say how long I spent holding the volume and reset button waiting for the version to appear.... my fingers have calluses.

Cheers,

-Kevin

**To enter Bootloader and check HardSPL version; with the device turned OFF, press and hold the volume down button, then press the reset button with the stylus. Release the volume down button when bootloader tricolour screen appears**

Yes, this is true. The device has to be ON. ;)

Ahh, I did a stupid.

First flash went fine. Did it from WinXP. Went with the newest (24***) ROM from NRGZ28's thread. Had a few glitches so thought I'd go to his linked more stable release... and since I was running Ubuntu, I made the silly decision to do it from my micro SD card.

Even more silly because I couldn't actually format the card despite several attempts - apparently the card was busy. But it didn't seem to have any files and was listed as Fat32... so...

But ESPECIALLY silly since I have no other means of accessing the microSD card (at least until my fiance comes home, and then maybe she can format it and we can put another ROM on there, etc).

End result (at least until my girl gets home and I steal her phone to fix this):
ROM flashing hangs about 4mm away from completion, and I have no drive etc to fix it. XD

I'm not asking for help - just saying: People. Don't do what I did.

Hmmm.. Boot a XP go to the bootloader ( you can skip to bootloader if you get stuck ! ) and then flash ROM.. ie if you can boot XP..

Noob question. I've had fuze for a long time. Still has the AT&T ROM. Thinking about downloading one of the custom ROMs on the website. My fuze has WM 6.1. Can I still upload a WM 6.5 ROM??? DO I have to upgrade my windows to 6.5 somehow and then install the custom 6.5 ROM??? Sorry, this is prolly a dumb question, but answers are appreciated.

Yes you can upgrade to a 6.5 ROM.
You just need to read the instructions on the first page follow them.
And then chose a Custom ROM from the Raphael Thread and flash it.

There has been no official update to 6.5 for the Raphael either from the carriers nor HTC.

desperate help!!

First i want to apologize for this super long post but i am at wits end with flashing my phone...

I desperately need help flashing hspl 1.90 olinex on to my Fuze which
is running AT&T stock 6.1 ROM (yes I know this needs to be changed!).
I have tried everything listed in these forums with no avail. Here is
what I have tried...
1. Using active sync I make a connection with the phone, let the sync
complete then run the hspl unlock package. It goes through and detects
my phone in which it says I have version 5.11 and I am upgrading to
1.90 Raphael. I click next the computer shows the status bar stuck at
0 percent and the phone display stays the same eventually it fails
with a 202 error. Also tried copying the manual sspl executable at the
root of my phone and have the same results.

2. Tried running the manual sspl from the phone after making a
connection via active sync. The phone screen turns black then I lose
connection via active sync, still tried running the unlocker and when
it detects my rom version it is blank but says I am upgrading to 1.90.
Hit next and the computer status hangs at 0 percent then gives a 262
error.

3. Tried loading the phone into the boot loader then connecting the
USB cable (phone display changes from serial to USB). Start running
the unlocker and it detects the phone in which the current version is
blank and the version i am upgrading to is 1.90, click next and the
computer progress displays 0 percent and there is even a progress bar
on the phone which is stuck at 0 percent. Eventually it fails and
wants to run a recovery removing the USB cable, battery and starting
over etc

4. Have tried random suggestions such as disabling exchange active
sync, disabling antivirus, turning off TF3D, pretty much everything
short of throwing the phone out the window!!

Just some random side info. When I boot into the bootloader it says
raph110, spl-5.10.0000. If i start the manual sspl then connect the
USB I get a unknown device prompt from the computer although the first
time I did this it detected stuff and downloaded drivers, same thing
the first time I booted into the boot loader and connected the USB.

Please someone help!!!

Thanks!

I suggest some sort of com problem. Try different USB cable (original ?), different USB and probably different PC.

Umm first of all, good that you read all the info etc etc.
I too suggest a different PC and or cable.

PS: what OS are you using on your PC ? Sometimes its related to that.

We'll try to help you to the best of our ability.

I am trying to flash my touch pro through a sd card.
But when ever I try to reboot with stylus and press volume down + enter (round button) it goes to tricolor screen and asks me I want to hard reset my device.

But it doesnt ask me to flash. I did formtat the sd to fat32
and yes I renamed the file to RAPHIMG.nbh

It worked in the past. But somehow this file doesnt?

Thanks!!!!!

success!!! I don't generally consider myself a n00b when it comes to technology stuff, as I have a degree in computer sciences, but when it comes to mobile phones i am most definitely a n00b :p and this post REALLY helped me flash my first ROM and i'm already enjoying the benefits :D

much success!

firs i want to say thanks for the responses. i finally got my phone flashed to hspl 1.90 and the latest energy ROM (sept 27th) and now for how i got it working

i tried a new USB cable and no luck so i went to a new PC all together. to my dismay i ended up getting the same exact errors following all the same steps but i was determined and my techy juices started flowing :). soo i realized that when i was running the hspl 1.90 package, it would was extracting the files inside of the packgae to the same folder so I connected the phone, ran the 1.90 package and went back to the windows and copied all the files that were extracted and pasted them into a new folder. i cancelled the update then reconnected the phone and let active sync see the phone then i ran the actual RUU executable and BOOM my phone started updating!! now i am enjoying some good 'cooked' freshness.
Hopefully my trial and tribulations will help someone else successfully install ROMS in the future

Will Flashing my ROM remove Windows Mobile and tf3d? Or is it just like upgrading a BIOS/Kernal on a computer?

but you should look for the rom you want to install.. many of the developers who cook together roms usualy makes the rom faster by deleting stuff and adding tweaks.. most of the raphael rom from most of the developers do contain tf3d.. just read through some of the threads of roms you find and chose the one you would like.. you could always change rom if there is some you dont like..- but do read the first page of this thread to be aware of the prosess...
