I've run this rooting tool several times and I get zeros in the proper places, indicating that I have root, but after the last reboot, there is no root. What am I doing wrong?
I received the 26 update OTA. Could that be why I can't get root? is there any remedy?
After the last reboot, what gives you the indication that you don't have root access? Is superuser installed?

Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using xda app-developers app

Some people have noted on the DebugFS thread that you might need to run Superuser before you can actually use it, or you might need to uninstall then reinstall superuser then run superuser for it to become available. Did you already try these post-install methods? Also, you need to have ASUS Sync turned off or uninstalled for the rooting process to complete properly. Just wanted to throw that in there.

ok got it working now after 4 tries.

I followed the directions in the video,
but also:

1) Installed and ran super user for a bit then uninstalled it because it hung the RootDebugfs.bat when I left it installed on my second try. RootDebugfs.bat will install it anyhow from its folder.
2) Executed the adb.exe file before RootDebugfs.bat (I must have missed that instruction in the video to execute adb.exe or perhaps it is not in the video???)

confirmed working with adaway which before gave m a "not rooted" error, now works flawlessly.

0.26 WW
cheers.

I had unchecked asus sync in settings. I have installed drivers directly in my windows drivers folder. I have uninstalled /re installed superuser...everything seems to run correctly but even after a reboot, my root apps tell me I don't have root. I have run this with and without the dock, with and without my ext.sdcards mounted...I know I'm missing something simple. I am glad that it's not related to update to build 26.

So does Superuser app report granting the root access to other apps? Have you tried the "su" command in the term?
If the problem is the earlier phase, [erhaps you should try not only unchecking the sync in the settings, but also killing asus sync on your PC if you have it installed.

I didn't have superuser installed when I started the debugfs. Which version are you using? Also make sure that Settings -> Accounts & Sync -> Launch ASUS Sync is not checked and that Settings -> Developer Options -> USB Debugging is checked.

You seem to have run it enough times that everything should be setup. Docked or not / SD card or not shouldn't make a difference. Did you try running superuser? I mean open up the apps, hit the superuser app, read the little updates list, hit the ok button, and then try to run your programs that require root?

Sorry for the bump but djR3Z, could you at least credit sparkym3 for making DebugFS on your tutorial site? Maybe also add a few links back to XDA where you got the information and the materials to get some recognition back to those that actually made the contributions. Just a suggestion.

Asus sync is unchecked so it doesn't run, both usb debugging and allow other programs are checked. No matter what i doesn't get past Daemon started successfully. I am out of ideas. i will try it on my desktop at home in a bit.

What system are you using? Also, did you try deleting the drivers from under safe mode before trying a reinstall of the drivers?

I tried adding a comment to that page that is linked to in the OP for the root method demo to redirect them back to the original XDA post for help and updates, but it doesn't seem to allow comments (keeps hanging).

So, I second the suggestion to at least link back to this original post of the tool (may even want to add the link in this threads OP)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1706588

Also, if you do decide to credit me, I would suggest also crediting miloj since he discovered the exploit.

My final comment on this is that whenever possible you should link to the location to download the file instead of hosting that file since tools around here get updated all the time, and users are usually (not always) best off using the latest version with all the included bug fixes.

Yeah, it looks like he's hosting an older version (or his own version based off an old version). Perhaps that's to go along with his video tutorial so that people don't have to worry about getting a different package than what the video assumes. In any case, I think there's gotta be some cred coming back to you (and miloj).

First of all, thanks to everyone that's trying to help me get rooted. As you know, each Android device seems to have its own quirks so it almost doesn't matter what my experience is with the other devices...I'm a noob with each new one.

That said, adb is working fine, I get all the way through the process..."congratulations! You've got root" I'm told. But there is no superuser or busybox in my app drawer, and root checker, tibu, etc say no root.
Asus sync has been killed. Adb is working. It's frustrating.

What version should I be running? There are several on a couple of different threads, and maybe there's something missing. Is there a way to do this manually? That's the way I rooted my Xoom...I've been so spoiled with all of the one clicks...

My apologies guys. If you check out my past tutorials/reviews you'll notice that I've always given credit where credit was due. I was just in a rush to get these out and it slipped through. No excuses, though. I'll add these in right now.

The reason I hosted it myself was because its the most complained about thing I've come across in the past - files hosted on sites where they have to go through hoops (links, ads, timers) to download. Not saying yours was like that, its just a habit of mine to make it easiest and quickest for people by hosting it on my site. I'm usually pretty good about updating when there's an update to root methods so it hasn't been a problem. If you'd really prefer that I use the original link, I'll switch it.

EDIT: Updated my post with credits to sparkym3 and miloj, along with sparky's donation link. Sorry about letting that slip, man.

Sometimes it is good to have separate hosts in case the main location goes down (make sure to label the version you are hosting, I think it's 1.9), but my main point is that it would be good to have the link back to the main area so everybody can get the latest, if you do forget to update the hosted version (or there's a delay).

Thanks for making those updates and thanks for the video as I am not really into the tutorial video making.
