First of all, thanks to everyone that's trying to help me get rooted. As you know, each Android device seems to have its own quirks so it almost doesn't matter what my experience is with the other devices...I'm a noob with each new one.

That said, adb is working fine, I get all the way through the process..."congratulations! You've got root" I'm told. But there is no superuser or busybox in my app drawer, and root checker, tibu, etc say no root.
Asus sync has been killed. Adb is working. It's frustrating.

What version should I be running? There are several on a couple of different threads, and maybe there's something missing. Is there a way to do this manually? That's the way I rooted my Xoom...I've been so spoiled with all of the one clicks...
Sure you can run everything manually, from the adb commands included in the bat file to installing superuser app and busybox. Run superuser, then run the term, use such and if it works it works, a question from the Superuser app should pop up.
However as you got a confirmation from the bat script, I don't think you have to go through adb all over again.

Well, I'll try running Superuser. I'll let you know if that works. Is there any other llittle thing I might be doing wrong, or not doing that could be messing me up?

Not sure. If the .bat script reports you're rooted, this normally means you're rooted. You just need Superuser app installed to allow it and apps that will make us of it. It's best to start with Terminal Emulator and "su" just to make sure.
Just make sure you're using the latest script for all of this.

Well when i got home i used my gaming desktop to give rooting a try. It must have not liked my work PC for some reason because everything worked fine the first attempt at home lol.
What CPU manipulation type programs do you all uses on your tablets? i noticed the ones ive seen only allow for change of frequency of only 2 cores not all 4? or maybe the companion core?

I had to install Superuser Update Fixer...ran that and it did the trick.
Thanks again for all your help.

@okantomi: Well done! I'm glad rooting worked for you after all.
@xPSYCHOTRONx: As I treat the tablet differently than my Android phone, I'm leaving most CPU business to the power mode and the governor, I think they're fine for most of the time. However, many people prefer to use JuiceDefender and/or SetCPU (or perhaps CPU Master and/or Battery Saver, both by AnTuTu). You can see some more info in my battery and apps threads.

Wow. I wasn't aware that getting root could be so complicated. Do you think there should be a specific thread going over all of the different problems and solutions that people have had so that it would be an easy to get to reference? Not a necessarily a Q&A thread, just a thread of all the known problems and solutions and for the other cases that occur, they could create their own threads. Would that be helpful?

I think it's a good idea and you're free to prepare such a list :) And I'll be happy to insert a link to it in my tweaks thread.

I wouldn't mind placing it in the OP if people want it.

Hey guys,

I have root and I'm unlocked but for some reason I can't reboot into recovery. It acts as if it isn't there, even when I downloaded and installed several times with Goo Manager. Any ideas?
are you holding down volume- during boot, then volume+ when the text is displayed? normal quickboot to recovery does not work. there are some apps that supposedly can do it but it is recommended that you don't use them. they have been known to cause boot loops.

Whoa thanks for the superfast response. I actually wasn't trying any button moves...I kept using the Goo app's menu for recovery, not realizing it doesn't work until I...you guessed it...viewed the video. :silly:

Some people have been unable to get the OTA update applied while rooted, others report they had no problem. I think the underlying issue was probably that those who had problems had modified files in their /system partition. Most people report losing root after applying the OTA update either manually or automatically. Use OTA Rootkeeper, or just re-root afterward.
