We've found, tested, and confirmed a method of returning the bootloader to original LOCKED status (not relocked, and not a hacked hboot). It requires S-OFF, and isn't noob friendly yet. The information is available here for anyone who urgently needs it for warranty (see OP and page 3), but for everyone else please wait for a more user friendly method to be ready.
