very nice :)

OK so lets do an overview of how to flash TOTs from now on. Steps below will allow you to flash ZV9 (or higher) and also downgrade back to ZV6. Don't flash ZV5 TOT if you're on ZV6 or higher! ZV5 is qfuse v1.. ZV6 and ZV9 are qfuse v2. You can only flash equal or higher qfuse versions... NEVER lower. I mean, technically you can flash ZV5... but you will not be able to boot the phone after doing so.

Thanks to some testing from @Awesomeslayerg I think we've worked out all the kinks. I don't have a Sprint G4, so without him the specific details laid out below would not have come so quickly.

1. Download both LGUP msi files HERE and install them on your PC.
2. Boot your phone into Download Mode [Remove USB cable in phone. Power off phone. Hold Volume Up then plug in USB cable]
3. Open LGUP, select your phone model. If it says unknown, disconnect phone/reopen LGUP and try again.
4. With LGUP now opened, select the "Upgrade" option. Then below that.. select the TOT you wish to flash then hit START.
5. That's it! Just wait for it to finish flashing. LGUP makes things quite simple. You don't even have to use COM port 41 any more. Always use the upgrade option.. even when downgrading.

If LGUP doesn't wipe your data and you'd prefer to have it wiped for some reason or another... simply boot into stock recovery after the TOT flash and run a factory reset.

If you have ignored the steps above and decided to use the old "LG Flash" method, forgot to check off "Board DL" and are now stuck on the "2" screen..
1. Use LGUP to flash ZV6 and get stuck at blue screen with red "2".
2. Power off phone and close LGUP.
3. Boot into Download Mode again.
4. This time.. instead of using LGUP.. use the original LG Flash method HERE.
5. Make sure you set LG Flash to use "Board DL" at the bottom of the screen where u select DLL and TOT.
6. Should be able to flash either ZV6 or ZV9 using LG Flash (with Board DL option).

LGUP FTW! :victory:
Awesome Guide autoprime

thanks

Still no root? I'm eager to play with this again! I just need my WiFi tether! If I flash a stock rom and set my apn settings to obtain WiFi tether, then update via zip, will I have tether still?

So I've tried connecting my G4 to LGUP twice, on both Windows 7 and 10 (different comps). Both times, I've had no luck in getting it to recognize my phone. I have the drivers for the phone installed, installed both files in the .rar, my device is in MTP mode, and I tried that method in the LGUP thread on getting it to recognize when it doesn't. No matter what, it will not show up (it does in file manager though). Am I stuck with just waiting until it pushes to me (which it should've by now?)

Also, so if I do have to wait- I'm going to be out of the country for the next 3 months. Will it push to me while I'm there, or is it only while in the US?

Does anyone know, is it possible to flash the Sprint ZV9 firmware on LG G4 AS991 (cspire/ntelos etc) ? somehow to change the ls991 to as991 in TOT file headers or something to pass the verification. This phone is 100% identical with LS991, it is just a ls991 with different software but gsm/wcdma bands are disabled. I tried to use shortcut master to enable some additional lte/gsm/wcdma bands and also CDMA TOOL didn't help and there aren't any custom roms for it.

Let the phone install the proper drivers on your PC.

Are these the steps I would take being on stock rooted ZV6?

1. Download both LGUP msi files HERE and install them on your PC.

3. Open LGUP, select your phone model. If it says unknown, disconnect phone/reopen LGUP and try again.

I personally am going to stay on my rooted ZV6. I really love this phone but when it comes to development for it there are only a few guys out there working on things.

Waited and never got the OTA so I pushed the update.zip, many thanks for posting that (and earlier instruction on how to push it to the phone -- that is about the furthest I normally want to go with ADB commands). Everything feels so snappy here, much smoother and faster, like the way I expected the phone to run from the start. I say sayonara to Lollipop, this is a huge improvement, for me, and we're pretty lucky to get the update to MM this quickly, IMO. I am okay running things almost stock, so far on this phone, so I can live without root and wifi tether until they are figured out.

I also wanted to say to the people who "can't live without tether so you can't upgrade" -- maybe you should consider paying for the service as it seems you are gobbling down many GB of data and slowing things down for others, and Sprint is probably losing money on you. Opening a can of worms there I know, sorry if I shouldn't post things like that in development or on this thread, just wanted to say thanks and I'm loving the update, I'm stoked on this phone again!

Do you have your phone in download mode? Turn the phone off, hold volume up, then plug in the usb cable connected to your computer.

That step is listed in autoprime's instructions (post #2 in this thread) for LGUP up/downgrades. MTP mode won't matter because you won't be in the OS, just the "firmware update" mode.

I had this happen to me. I went to the lg website and installed the universal drivers from the site. Then it would recognize my phone. Would not recognize with the phone installed drivers. Everything flashed fine after that.
