Hi,

I've been running the Cyanogen Mod for sometime on my G1 without issues, but I need to put the phone back to original T-Mobile firmware.

I've managed to restore RC7, but unable to get the phone to update or find a later firmware to install so it works correctly.

If I try RC9 firmware it says not allowed

From Camera+Power the information is

CPLD-4

Any help appreciated

Hi,

Already tried that thread but no luck, the main file for the UK G1 is not available but the updates are.

In your first post you said you are at RC7.
from there:
Get Back to Cupcake

1. Download the cupcake update from http://android-roms.googlecode.com/files/signed-kila-ota-148830.de6a94ca.zip
2. Rename the .zip file to update.zip Put this on the root of your SDcard by itself. I would suggest reformatting the card to Fat32 before you start.

Note: Make sure its update.zip not update.zip.zip. If you cannot update rename your file to update not update.zip

3. Turn off your phone
4. Hold the HOME key while pressing the POWER key
5. You will see a "!" which means you are in recovery
6. Open your keyboard and type alt+l to see text
7. Type alt+s to update
8. Congrats you now have Cupcake 1.5 OS

You can manually update to 1.6 from here. I'll find that link if you get this far.

If you want to get all the way to 1.6 you need the next version of 1.5 (crc1)

http://code.google.com/p/android-roms/downloads/detail?name=signed-kila-CRC1-from-CRB43-FIX.7ca4a1d7.zip&can=2&q=

Install that the same way. No need to wipe.

Once you have that you can go to 1.6 (DRC83)

http://android.clients.google.com/updates/kila/signed-kila-DRC83-from-CRC1.c41b93c1.zip

Again, install the same way.

Just remember to remove the previous "update.zip" from your card after each installation.

thanks, the main issue had was getting stock back on as for some reason some roms wouldn't allow it - i've used cyanogen roms without issue but upgrading to the desire shortly and needed to put this phone back to stock for someone else

update: got up this morning and it received an OTA update taking the phone to DMD64
