Returning back to Note 8 from iPhone XS Max, and I have some tough questions

So... had my heart set on the iPhone XS Max 512gb version, bought it, and I've been using it for three weeks. I've decided to go back to my Note 8.

Questions)
1. I want Android pie on my N8, which probably won't happen for a year, are there any ROMs based on Android pie?
2. There were some minor issues, which when added up pissed me off, which is one of the reasons I sold my N8 in the first place, like high volume warning, needing a passcode in order to use things like Samsung Pass and Samsung Pay, etc... etc... IF I were to root my device to get rid of these things, I would not be able to use things like Samsung pass (biometric automatic sign-in), as well as the Secure folder. Samsung Pay I don't really care, since I have a physica C/C for payments/public transporation. My question is, are there any 3rd party apps that do the same things as Samsung pass and Secure folder? I've found these two things very very useful for the longest time.
3. Are there any glass "BACK" protectors? I love the deep sea blue color, and even a transparent case will hide some of the color. I could not find anything for the back protection except for flimsy films, which I'm not sure will help protect the back of the phone

Hey there! A wise choice you made there. ;)

1. Not at the moment - Seeing as AOSP development for the Note 8 is practically non-existent, we probably won't see any P-based ROMs before Samsung has released an official one.
2. High volume warning along with some other Samsung annoyances can be fixed with an app called SamFix (can be found here on XDA). You do have to give it privileges through adb, but it doesn't require root. As for Knox-related apps (Samsung Pay, Samsung Pass, Secure Folder... ), those are all permanently disabled the moment your Knox bit flips to 0x1 (in short, when you boot a custom recovery or a custom kernel). Some apps can be patched to work (S Health for instance). For Samsung Pass alternatives, look here!
3. Don't know about those, but I just so happened to stumble upon this thread.

Oddbehreif gave you very good answers, regarding the last question, yes there are some glass back protectors, I bought 3 of them in ebay, they are not adhesive, but very slim cases, I even have one that has magnetic closures, and it does not interfere with any function, (gps, wifi, cell signal, spen, camera, screen)

You can try dbrand sticker skins, i think if there is even back glass protectors they wouldnt stick very well or just get stuck into something. I use dragon full body skin from dbrand, its covering camera lenses, back glass, at the front bottom and top black panels.
