Is it necessary to "always run in background" for micro G app?

I personally turn off completly notifications of microG and leave it "Optimized".

Hello I've been noticing some battery draining since I switched from Vanced to ReVanced, also I'm not getting notifications (Tbh I really don't care about them... What concerns me the most is the battery draining)

If you see the screenshot attached, from 00:00 to 8:00 (While I'm sleeping), the app stays in foreground for all the night, before ReVanced the battery line was flat... Any suggestions to fix this? (I'm using a unrooted OnePlus phone)

Hi,
As I said to the other user above, I personally turn off completly notifications of microG and leave it "Optimized".
Please, clean install the latest vesrion of ReVanced and Vanced MicroG from the Download post.
If you still encounter the same issue let me know.

Thank you for this! I do have a feature request. The original version allowed one to continue playing YT videos with the screen turned off, so that the audio could still be heard. If this is a setting somewhere, can you please advise on how to enable it? If not, can the next iteration have that feature?

I believe it's already enabled by default, at least for me it is for both ReVanced and ReVanced Extended.
Go to YouTube settings > Background > Set it always enabled.

I am getting the video buffering issue. the video plays fine till 9 seconds and then it buffers and does not proceed beyond 9 secs.

Cleared cache, data, enabled video buffering fix but issue still remains the same

Hi, this is a known issue for some people. I personally don't have any issue but others do.

I believe it uses the official patches.

Please, clean install the latest vesrion of ReVanced and Vanced MicroG from the Download post.

Hello, I reinstalled everything and now notifications seems to work fine now.

The battery problem seems solved too but still shows that the app is constantly in foreground. I'm thinking this is fault of OnePlus ****ty battery stats (If other OnePlus user could confirm this it would be awesome) I attached two screenshots, one of them show the "use time" of the app, which shows that the app it's awake all night, and the other shows the "battery usage" of the apps, there you can see that even when ReVanced it's constantly in foreground, it doesn't consume battery (or not enough to be listed with the other apps that are wasting energy...)

I've also built a "stable" 18.01.36 version which you can find in AFH but 18.02.33 beta working fine.

Installation

Spoiler: Non Root

• Install microG and then the Official ReVanced or ReVanced Extended.
• While you installing the app and when you first open the app, you will get a warn from play store. Press ignore and then press -do not send-. It's safe don't worry about what play store says.
• To set the app as default: Go to App info > Set as default > Open supported links, "On" > Supported web addresses > Turn them all "On"
• Enjoy!

You can also install ready APKs (YouTube, Music, Twitter, Reddit, Twitch, TikTok) from j-hc/ ReVanced All APKs.

Spoiler: Root

• To Install via Root without microG, you need to manually build according my Root guides at OP. (You can still install my .apks here as Root user but along with the microG) [Read here]
• Or you can simply install the j-hc/ ReVanced Magisk Module.

How to Update

• You can just download the new .apk and install it normally as update.
• ReVanced Manager using a keystore file to sign the apk, if you ereased all data of the manager the keystore would be deleted too, so you need to remove the old revanced apk to update. In order to prevent that, I backup and restore my keystore. [Read more at the same section at OP]

Notes

• Each .zip contains the ReVanced or ReVanced Extended.apk along with the latest Vanced MicroG.apk.
• I've linked this post at OP.

Atm, I don't have any plans to do that, also don't know if it's possible. Isn't Fdroid for foss apps only?

Yes, F-droid won't allow these patched version of YouTube for several reasons, FOSS is only one if them.
@qiratdahaf : Anyway, If ready APK's would appear on bigger platforms they won't be available too long....
Btw, what build (Extended, official) and with which collection of patches?
Installing/updating over the old APK will only work under special circumstances.

When closing ReVanced Extended is there a way to KEEP the swipe control brightness level set at whatever was the last level you set it at instead of it defaulting back to 0 every time? With OG Vanced using the swipe control gesture, the brightness level would stay locked at the same level you last configured it.
