3. That's not the maskrom, it's normal download mode.
From the download mode you can get the full flash including FW, data with settings, whatnot. You can also compare versions on the dongle and one you downloaded.

You should also be able to have support from the vendor.

Vendor says that I have to provide videos to prove the problem to return the product, but I don't want to ; the producer give no support and doesn't answer to the email, and doesn't provide change log or documentation to understand if the downloaded firmware is more recent or not.
I don't know how to enter in download mode, if attached isn't detected, if attached with the button pressed is detected in maskrom mode.

1. Get a video from YouTube and convert to mkv. You got two files (mp4 and mkv). Voilà
2. Ok. With rkflashtool and "maskrom" mode you can do anything. (though I wrote you: it's download mode, not maskrom!) )))

rkflashtool can't open device ; this page too states that it works only if the device is in bootloader (or download mode, as you and rkbatchtool say) and not in mask mode: http://wiki.radxa.com/Rock/flash_the_image

I don't know if it's good or bad news for you, but you can't ultimately brick rockchip. That's why it's rock chip
The before mentioned markrom mode will allow you to recover it.

my dongle updated itself via the OTA function (putting the ota url from old posts in the web interface) until this version, but DLNA/Airplay is totally broken the device connect to the AP but is not shown as a "sharable device"

I recently brought Anycast M2 plus dongle but it dose not have option to change output resolution, i tried to flash some another firmwares but it fails while flashing, showing "check chip fail" in rockchip batchtool & i found that dongle contains Mediatek MT8312V chipset in it, any idea to change resolution settings or to flash any other firmware which have the option in it, please help.

So, I bought a new one Goclever AeroDisplay few months ago. It's nothing more like others Chinese adapters from here. I found way to flash firmware even on Windows 10! Just download ZIP file from here: https://drive.google.com/a/ergotech...9v6BjAZEE1w7NE_iLhzjVJ0F9SOTp&export=download It's from Ergocity website: https://www.ergocity.com.tw/Page/Download_7#MD3056PW . Inside archive, except firmware, there are interesting things that you need - RockChip BatchTool and drivers. Install drivers and run RKBatchTool, voilà! (everything you do is on your own risk)

I tried to flash V18 on my RK2928 stick (2207:292A) but it failed with consequences: Now Windows can no longer register the device in update mode (driver does not load). Unfortunately I didn't create a backup beforehand. But the stick is still booting normally to previously installed firmware *phew*

Previously I updated successfully with iPush V3 and Ergotech V17.

But Linux still recognizes the device. rkflashtool can still communicate with it.

So if anyone wants to follow my steps here's how to do it:

--- Create backup of all partitions: ---
# rkflashtool r 0x0000 0x0080 >0_param.img
# rkflashtool r 0x0080 0x1380 >1_kernel.img
# rkflashtool r 0x1400 0x0200 >2_boot.img
# rkflashtool r 0x1600 0x0400 >3_user.img

--- Unpack V18 firmware: ---
# rkunpack MD3056PW_18.0.0.img
# rkunpack embedded-update.img

--- Flash partitions from above embedded image: ---

I still don't know what's wrong with the first partition but it still boots fine into V18 now. AirPlay mirroring with iOS12+ is working.

But the stick is still much too unstable to be used. The chip gets hot real quick and is too slow for anything.

Nevertheless I updated those Chinese AirPlay/Miracast images (located in usr/share/jpg) to images with my native language via:

# unzip newpics.zip
# mksquashfs squashfs-root/ newsystem.img -b 1024k -comp xz -Xbcj arm
# rkflashtool w 0x1a00 0x6600 <newsystem.img

Now at least it is looking better... no Chinese confusion for new users.

For those who think they destroyed the dongle by flashing (purple colour on 1-2) please try to flash only with windows 7. Windows 10 fails. Mine did not brick.

Now for those who want to turn this dongle to airplay compatible using iphone 12 ipad etc then this is the solution.
download and flash firmware 18.0. (ergotech v18)

3. insert usb of wireless display adapter to pc while pressing dlna switch button for 3-5 seconds.
4. Select firmware
5. Update.

Its been quite some time since I last posted but I was desperate with airplay failing to play on my smart TV.
Other solutions buy a chromecast dongle but this inexpensive miracast dongle works great too and can project anything on the iphone screen.

I think this will be the last post on this subject since airplay was not working with my previous ergotech version 15.. Airplay now same as DLNA projection including sound.

Amazing firmware. version. Works great.
For those asking if you can project netflix to a TV through Airplay hdmi dongle, no you cant due to HDCP hdmi protection (havent tested android) but you can project chrome for example. and videos played within browser. Chromecast hdmi dongle supports netflix is one solution but there are other too (smart TV). The problem for me is airplay support by these smart TVs which is not existent.
