People need to stop relying on the diagnostics tool. Nokia made a big mistake letting customers easliy getting access to it. All some seems to do is stare at mAh numbers for the battery and such...

You can't do anyting with the tool and apply it to the phone it's just there for testing purposes and might not report exact correct figures for everyting such as the battery.

A lot of the battery issues are from people staring at those numbers thinking their phone is affected because the full charge capacity shrinks over time when in face it does not when it comes to real battery life.

When on 11451, I can reach ~1300mAh at a full charge. On the same phone, after updating to 11501, the phone reports a battery charge of 86%. This proves that the update 'unlocks' a portion of battery charge which is not available to the phone when using 11451.

Incidentally, the diagnostics app reports a charge of ~1470mAh at 100%, after updating to 11501. However, after a few days, that full charge yet again drops back down to ~1300mAh.

I believe there is a firmware bug with these devices which affects the battery charge. It may only be a ~150mAh, but a 10% loss is a lot to me...

Cant get mine flashed im stuck on suite finding downloaded file!
please help
So, you have not downloaded a ROM yet? Are you trying to flash RM-819 to RM-801 device? We've already confirmed that it does not free up the 850MHz band. There is no reason to flash it. Are you stuck in flash mode?

Lumia 801 & ATT 3g

I have a Question, i know you guys have tested and stated that flashing, the 819On to the 801, will not enable the 850, I have an 801 and i am on straight talk (ATT) so most of the time, So i get H or E on my phone, where i am located its Edge, when i got to the city i get an H, which is great. The problem with Edge on ATT is that when your on the internet or using any kind of data and you get a call it will not come through, it will go straight too voicemail. Now to get on 3g i need the 850 on the phone enabled, which has been stated, that it can not be done. I have noticed sometimes on my phone, when i am at home or certain areas it will show a 3g symbol on my phone. Based on the conclusion of the thread, i should not get 3g on ATT with 801. I have not flashed the 819 to my phone. Anyone have any idea why this may be happening...

The technologies are this:

2G services are GPRS (G) and EDGE (E).
3G services are UMTS (3G) and HSPA/HSPA+ (H). *On AT&T branded devices, the HSPA/HSPA+ is actually 'mislabeled' as 4G. It's a marketing gimmick.

Anyway. When your phone is set to E for the highest data connection, it will get GPRS or EDGE, whichever is available; but GPRS only when EDGE cannot be connected. The same for the 3G. Your device will grab onto 3G (UMTS) only when it cannot keep enough of H, but has enough to not drop down to E.

Thats the Question, The understanding that i get is that the 801. Is not able to the connect to the 3G band of ATT only the 819. And My highest setting on my phone is 3g, not H. ATT 3g is heavy in my Area.

RM-801 = GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and WCMDA 900/1900/2100
RM-819 = GSM 850/900/1800/1900 and WCMDA 850/1900/2100

GSM grants you GPRS and EDGE for the data connection (G and E icons).
WCMDA gives you UMTS and HSPA data (3G and H icons).

The icons on your notification are just indicators of the signal being connected. We could label them A, B, C, and D and they'd still mean the same thing. The 3G icon means that you're getting a weak connection on WCMDA 1900MHz, whereas a better connection would yield the H icon for HSPA on the same band.

Make better sense now?
