No apparant problems with the battery overheating, however, my phone does reboot itself at random intervals. Not that I'm particularly bothered.

I've found that after waiting a while the 3G does turn off... very strange.

Yes, animation is turned on in CyanogenMod settings.

Make sure animations are set to normal in spare parts and on in regular settings. Changing animation speed in spare parts breaks the on/off animation

Same here, yesterday I was using 3G like 10mins and the phone was hot as hell.

So we have 4-5 confirms of a battery overheating.
Is there any additional info we can give about that?
In my case I was commenting while using dolphin browser and using XDA app.

One more thing, it seems that I can't charge my phone beyond 95%.

You should only be able to charge to around 95% as a security feature to protect the life of the battery. Samsung hack the software to show 100% when actually you've only charged to 95 or 96%.

If anything CM7 needs to incorporate the same hack!

won't happen :p

that's a hack from Samsung

CM7 is as vanilla as it can get to AOSP (Android directly from Google)

why would you want to lie to yourself that it's at 100% when in fact it's at 95% ?

if you know that 95% == 100% at Samsung's then let it be ;)

If it's my max why not showing 100%?
But it's not a big deal now that I'm aware of the reason for that.

But the overheating thing started for me again.
Commenting on a forum using dolphin browser mini on 3g.
Is it browsing, commenting or dolphin browser itself I'll try eliminate after this charging cycle.

    Don't make any feature requests!

    INFORMATIONS

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    #include <std_disclaimer.h>

CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script - 1.0

Since many users have complained about phone instability after flashing another kernel, I decided to make a Recovery Script to clean everything may cause instability.
As we know also zach made something like this, but his script deletes only init.d config files while many problems are generated by cache and dalvik-cache waste files.

So here I am with the Ultimate Kernel Cleaning Script.

    HOW TO:

    - Place the zip file in your internal SDCARD
    - Flash it as a normal package from ClockworkMOD recovery
    - Flash any kernel (zach's, tkglitch's or bilboa's)
    - Reboot

Everytime you need to change/re-flash a kernel, just apply this before :)

    DOWNLOAD:

It could be a good think to add this to OP :) Thank you so much :)

    CODE
To be sure that the script won't touch anything you probability don't want to, here is the update-script:

    speedmod-kernel-k12n-500hz.tar is included in cm7-galaxys-initial-package.zip.
it's just for the efs backup. the kernel will go away after this.
