pls note these simple but important instructions for install of 4lph4 n3v3r d135 XXLA4 v1.7:

1. download "XXLA4 v1.6 part one" and "4lph4_n3v3r_d135_XXLA4_boost_me_up_to_v1.7" or many other optional downloads (same link)
2. copy both on your phone to the internal sd card
3. goto CWM-Recovery and make a fullwipe (wipe data/factory + wipe cache partition + wipe Dalvik cache)
4. now flash first "XXLA4 v1.6 part one"
5. after the flash make NO fullwipe!!!, just boot! I repeat, dont make any wipe after the flash, it kills the important "dummy-files"
6. let your phone boot to green droid, then shut off the phone (pls ignore fc's, its normal)
7. goto CWM-Recovery and flash "4lph4_n3v3r_d135_XXLA4_boost_me_up_to_v1.7"
8. now reboot

If you already on my v1.6 with part two (I mean not with "4lph4_n3v3r_d135_XXLA4_boost_me_up_to_v1.7"!) just download "4lph4_n3v3r_d135_XXLA4_boost_me_up_to_v1.7" and copy it to internal sd card. Then flash it via CWM-Recovery. Pls note...to and from internal sd card, thats really important!!!

If you think "OMG, the small fonts and the 6 row in v1.7 are really ****..." so pls download other options.

For versions with Toogle2G
Be patient, @ first start the search of signal takes longer.
With Toogle2G (since version 1.1) you can save energy.
If you dont need it, you need not enable this App but pls allow the permission with SuperUser!

Whats Toogle2G?

Well, Toogle2G save energy. If you activate it, then you can set your phone always to 2G, also during WiFi-Mode!
With Tasker v1.1.1u2 you can simple switch between 2G or 3G. Tasker needs Toogle2G and Toogle2G needs Tasker for the 2G/3G switch.
NO other app works so comfortable! NONE! (because of the API)
In the next days I will write a little howto for Tasker with Toogle2G. Be patient!


More Speed by Overclocking?

Yes you can!
My ROM's are very very fast even without overclocking.
With overclocking it will be one more time speedup.
Pls use apps like "setCPU" or others.
But be sure, any overclocking can damage your hardware.
Any overclocking can go to weigh your battery and the h/w temps!
Nobody except you is responsible for any damage.

You might consider the flashing procedure Cassie advises with his Xtralite ROM, which is quite elaborate (with full wipes and all) but it brings back the vibration in the process.

I managed to get vibration back by simply doing the following:

1. Boot into CWM.
2. Factory Reset then install 1.1.
3. Restart the device.
4. Go through the setup pages to the home screen.
5. Reboot into CWM.
6. Factory Reset then reboot.
7 Voila.

Vibrate returns.... I have noticed that the boot animation also changes to SAMSUNG.

I'll second that - you will not use root.

Another little snippet of advice though.

Upon first boot you may find that you get a message saying "radio has been denied root privileges" or something like that.... easy to fix it, open toggle2g app.... and when you get the pop up for superuser permission simply click yes and make sure that the "always allow" is ticked.

I have to say that I am really impressed with this KL8 stock rom. Fast, smooth and really low battery consumption. I'm about to put my usual "Tasker" routines on the device so it will be interesting to see if this affects matters.

I was considering offloading my Galaxy Note and going back to my ever faithful S2 (described in my signature) but I'm beginning to reconsider.
