boot problems

Hi,

I successfully rooted my G2 and used CM9-vision-RC2 for the last few month (it worked great!). Today I tried to update it to your final version, but at the moment the boot animation won’t stop?!

Pressing power Vol- and selecting recovery, brings me to the clockworkmod menue but, non of the options (like reboot) react??

Any idea what I have done wrong?

I've had the long boot-ani as well. I just let the boot run for some time and it somehow continued after a long while. Perhaps this works for you as well? Did you clean the caches before install?

In the introduction of this forum-topic it says no problems were found yet. I've got three problems (bugs?) that I found in this release.
Perhaps someone can help me solve these?

  1. The phone becomes very sluggish when using Wifi-hotspot and even hangs completely. This function is unusable.

  2. Using bluetooth to pair it to my iPad it can connect, but can't find it when try send files (images) it doesn't show it the devices list.

  3. From the gallery-app I can send files to Facebook, the FB app crashes immediately.
Perhaps you can help me solve these problems, or perhaps fix this in newer versions? :highfive:

Thanks in advance!

Sorry if these issues were reported before, I can't possibly read all 168 pages of this thread.

I just rooted my G2 and installed recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.1.0-vision.img, CM9.1-vision-3.0-Final.zip, and gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip
I did the wipe in Clockwork. I couldn't figure out how to restore my settings and SMS with Ti backup, so it's pretty much a fresh install.

Works great except 2 issues:
1. hardware buttons (home, menu, back, search) are not sensitive enough. have to press several times or hold down.
2. microphone works during calls, but if I enable then disable speakerphone, it is muted and can't be unmuted until call is ended.

Thanks

Or even better, move to Flinny's CM10 builds. Runs much better than this rom and even more features!

Thanks for the advice clevetbs, but unfortunately that didn't solve my problems. It hangs on Wi-Fi Hotspot completely, making the mobile really slow (too slow to operate or turn off). I would really like to have this function working, for usage with my notebook and iPad when I'm on the road...
Did anyone else experience this problem?

The problems with Facebook can be overcome however: by adding the photo in Facebook itself, instead of sending it from the Gallery.

What I read from other topics, all ROMs have different problems. Till now these are the only things I noticed in this built, so I've got little reason to look further. :)

Make sure you do a complete wipe, super wipe, fastboot -w, just make sure its all clean and reformatted. Then flash mimicry. WiFi hotspot always worked fine for me, can't say about this cm9 build but it should work here too. If it still won't post a logcat so we can see where the issue lies

Huh, doesn't sound possible... I'm assuming there is some key info missing...
Anyhow, if you're running original 2.2 os then just follow the xda wiki to root from this point using the gfree method. If you still has a custom recovery you may be able to do less work. Can you confirm what method you used to root the phone as well as write down all info on bootloader screen.

Oh and I would suggest making a topic in q&a not in a the developers section, being your issue is not related to this ROM the respectful thing to do is not clog up this thread

Hello to all and thanks for this Rom!

It's all ok for me except for one thing:
- the hardware keyboard FN + SPACE shortcut typed after a vowel don't make it accented anymore :(

For example, to type "papà" (daddy) with stock (or Vituous Sense rom) i had to press "p" + "a" + "p" + "a" + FN + SPACE. The last "a" became an "à".

I know that if i keep pressed "a" key the keyboard let me to choose "à" but it's really slow (i have to move finger from hardware keyboard to screen and back again).

There's a way to fix this?

Thanks in advance

Need some advice on upgrading a HTC G2 T Mobile

Am currently running CM 7.2.0 RC3 - vision on a 2.6.35.15 CMKernel. Can this be upgraded to the CM 9? Do i need to upgrade the kernel, too?

The CM site says that the last Stable version was the 7.2 one so that is why i'm asking - as well as the question about the kernel (see http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=stable&device=vision ) so the info is a little confusing...

Any help would be appreciated and have a great evening! :)

Sorry for the inactivity, i have buy a laptop for cheap and i was configuring a build environment for ICS, who may work with JellyBean too.
I have succeeded to build ICS from scratch and now i'm almost ready for a new release, need to fix and update the 3.0 kernel before any new release, the frame buffer is broken at this moment. and the WI-FI hotspot have been fix. :victory:

A lot of people say that i should make a CM10 build to have more chose..
Like blk_jack have say earlier i'm using some Andromadus commit for my kang.
Well my CM10 build will look a lot like Flinny test build but mine will be more proper, more CM10 related, less

If you would like that i make a CM10 kang. Click on thanks!! :highfive:
    7
Well I'm going back to CM7.
This is not a working rom actually.
Backup functions and Google Account should be INTEGRATED IN the rom, not installed separatelly.
I can't install any working app from the store without gaps and I can't install gaps without an explorer. Stupid. And if I install Titanium Bckp from an apk that does NOT work propelly. Titanium is being shut down every time I run it (after about 30 secconds of using it).
    That sucks!

And Could anyone EXPLAIN me why the rom does not have these features included???
Maybe I don't understand something here.

    greetings

You're acting like a complete dummy who can't figure out the basics of flashing ROMs 101. Seriously, read some of the stickied posts and stop ignoring the advice people have already given you in this thread.

To summarize for you, not that I think you'll read this reply but I might as well give it a go:

    1. CyanogenMod cannot bundle gapps with their ROMs due to Google (licensing restrictions)
    2. You flash gapps through your recovery, just like you do when installing a ROM
    3. You can create a flashable zip from within Titanium Backup that you can flash with your ROM to have TiBu automatically installed w/o market access

Honestly though, I think you really should stick w/ stock. There are things you have to do to install ICS properly (make sure your partitions are ext4, etc) that I simply don't think you're equipped enough to handle. As they say, KISS.

Hey don't let this post die
I'm still working on it ;)

New major change will be :
    -Lord Clockan's kernel
    -Panorama Camera
    -ICS audio with MIC working
and the last but not the least
    -CyanogenMod 9 Boot Animation @ 75FPS

with all the new things from cyanogen git :)

will try OMX integrated before any new release, but if you make pressure for a new release i will do it :)

any tips how to get camera flash working ?

    terminal app > su > chmod 777 /sys/camera_led_status/led_ril_status
