Hey there!
Thanks for your quick feedback! I'm really enjoying this ROM and the community.

Firstly, I'm not sure how to send you my logs as I'm still a newb.

Secondly, I tried with OK Google detection, switching it off then on, and that seems to have done the trick. All my above concerns have been fixed.

A detail that might be relevant or not, is that my system language was in French at first, then I changed it to English.

Thanks again! Glad I don't have to replace the mic.
If it ever happens again send the log before fixing it hahaha. A simple google search would have done the trick to learn how to grab a log. We also have matlog app preinstalled. You can use it to save your logs and share them.

Very odd for system to default to French, never saw that happen, and I've flash about every version of Derp.

There's a log QS tile. I think you just hit that after you've done something you want a log of. Sometimes difficult if you have a crash.
The QS log tile was still WIP. I forgot to checkout of the wip branch in matlog before building previous build. It should be gone now :)

In any case the best way to grab a logcat is to run
Code:
adb shell logcat -d > logat.log

Do you mean android auto? I don't have that. Works fine in my car. Enough to wake the whole neighborhood. But yes, surely it is device dependent (or car in this case haha).
Yes, both. In Android Auto, or just a Bluetooth enabled car. Requires you to turn the volume knob at least double your regular audio source.
Makes it difficult to turn volume up and down while switching radio or answering a phone call.

With V4A I boosted Bluetooth volume so that bit would match and then no need to play with the volume.

Thankfully, with current covid situation, in IL, I find myself less in the car, so I can manage without the audio mod for awhile.

Another quick bug report. In hangouts video chat there is a terrible echo for the remote caller with ok Google enabled. Disabling ok Google and the caller does not hear themselves anymore. IIRC this is a very difficult problem that's plagued OnePlus phones for years. Google Hangouts echo oneplus to see what I mean. Fluence related maybe? Bad audio profile selected by hangouts? I tried messing with mixer paths years ago and watching logcat for the profile, but mixer paths made my head spin so I gave up.

Not a huge deal for me but just a heads up anyway.

I agree, but Bluetooth produces too low volume and needs a boost.
That's my only reason for audio mod.
If instead you'd modify the ROM volume settings to allow higher gain.
. Use viper for other features other than gain. There r a lot of cool things which make ur headset even better sounding. I use it as i cant afford premium headsets.

Similar for me in my car, but better in my brother's car. Media is super low but Google assistant is BOOMING, it's horrendous to have to turn it way up for music then I get a message and my ears bleed. I've just given up because I think it's the car because multiple versions of android have all had the same problem.

It has been a long time since I've used DerpFest which at the time was my favorite custom ROM. I've been using OOS ever since for stability and for the lack of "most" bugs. I think I am now ready to explore the DerpFest playground once again. Are most people having problems with the mic during video calls/chats and experiencing low sound volume over bluetooth? Any other common bugs I should be aware of especially when comparing DerpFest to OOS 10?

Just curious, but why does the rom require the beta firmware? What is the effect of running the the rom using the oos10 stable firmware?

Thanks for sharing that writeup! Following up though, it doesn't explain why the rom uses the blobs from the beta and not the stable oos. Are the blobs not available or am I missing something here?
What blobs to use depends on the developer of the ROM. Only he can answer why. And the blobs get available as soon as a new OOS version gets released. There is no wait time. :)

So coming from OOS 10 Stable, it is recommended to flash the older Open Beta firmware included in the OP before flashing this ROM?
