Of course, you are free to do all what you want with your device.

I guess you should read more posts from this thread, we all use magisk here without any problem !
That's certainly true for the older releases of magisk, but not for the most recent and future releases. And since the special instructions for Huawei devices have been removed, I suppose it will be hardly possible for new users, who don't have those instructions, to install magisk.

Why we should care about future releases of magisk ? We have Android 10 and magisk it's working well - that's all that matters !

But how shall I install magisk for Android 10 if the present release doesn't support Huawei devices and the Huawei-specific instructions for older releases have been removed?
You can still download the older release of magisk . You don't need instructions to install as it's very easy . Install the app , and patch boot.img in order to flash it via TWRP or fastboot.

Many thanks, that sounds encouraging!

I have now tried to flash twrp (I am on Nougat again now), but I didn't succeed:

--------------------------------------------------------------------
C:\adb>fastboot devices
28D6R17123002577 fastboot

C:\adb>fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-1.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (21596 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.484s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.516s

C:\adb>
---------------------------------------------------------------------

What might be the reason?

What return this command ?

fastboot oem lock-state info

Edit :
I guess you need to move the whole adb folder from C partition, as may be there some permission issues .

Try to install adb not on C partition, there you need special permissions ... and flash TWRP again !

Same effect as before:

--------------------------------------------------------------
d:\Dieter\adb>fastboot oem lock-state info
...
(bootloader) FB LockState: LOCKED
(bootloader) USER LockState: LOCKED
OKAY [ -0.000s]
finished. total time: -0.000s

d:\Dieter\adb>fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-1.img
target reported max download size of 471859200 bytes
sending 'recovery' (21596 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.469s]
writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: Command not allowed)
finished. total time: 0.484s

d:\Dieter\adb>
----------------------------------------------------------------

After this my device reports on the next boot attempt "Device has failed verification, may not work properly". but a normal boot can then be initiated by pressing the power button once more. This behaviour is retained unless I start a system update from the dload folder on my external SD card.

As you see in my post #827 I have "USER LockState LOCKED".

If this causes my troubles, how can I avoid it?

EDIT:

The reason for my troubles was apparently: I had unlocked (with DCunlocker) the bootloader when I still was on Android 6:

I have now repeated the unlock process under Android 7, and now I could install twrp and successfully open it using Power+VolUp.

Many thanks for your help!

Hi, Surdu! Are you going to be able to keep updating this ROM? thanks, jf
Yes, sure ... there is no reason from my part to not continue the update for LOS 15.1 & LOS 17.1 !

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, at the moment I have poor internet connectivity at home due to some worked to modernize the internet infrastructure, and starting with September, everything will return to normal !

That's why the last updates of LOS 15.1 & 17.1 were improperly uploaded to hosting sites limited to one month ... all this will be changed with the next updates, updates which will start again regularly from september this year !

Thank you very much for patience !

    Hello !

    lineage-os-custom-rom.jpg

Android 10 is coming on your Huawei MediaPad M3 8.4, Kirin 950 SoC with the LineageOS 17.1 !

    Devices Supported: Huawei MediaPad M3 8.4 : BTV-DL09; BTV-L0J; BTV-W09

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10 (Q), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /sys/fs/pstore/console-ramoops and /sys/fs/pstore/dmesg-ramoops-0. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.
