After ten months using lineage-17.1, I updated the device firmware by following the instructions on the LineageOS wiki (https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/guacamoleb/fw_update). There was no problem. I have noticed a significant some improvement in the stability of Wi-Fi connections.

I am so happy with the performance of Lineage that I am not curious to try OOS 11.

Doesn't work for me.
I get: "error: Could not check if partition abl has slot."
or if I specify a slot like:
fastboot flash --slot a abl abl.img
I get: FAILED (remote: Flashing is not allowed for Critical Partitions
"fastboot getvar all" says it's unlocked and has slots a and b.
I'm trying from a linux box.

Sadly not.
I tried with the newest fastboot version from developer.android.com, but that didn't make a difference.
Next I will install lineageOS recovery as mentioned in the wiki article and see if that makes a difference. At the moment I'm on latest TWRP.
You cannot update the firmware from TWRP. You need LineageOS recovery and enter fastbootd, which is something different than bootloader.

I have been using LineageOS since June 2020. I have never had any problems. Right now I am using the latest weekly build.

Is it useful or recommended to update the firmware of the device by following these instructions from the LineageOS wiki: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/guacamoleb/fw_update?
update firmware to oos 11 you mean ? if yes then I'll suggest not to do it as it is not actively managed.

No. To the latest OOS 10: OnePlus7Oxygen_14.E.32_GLO_032_2101280017.

    Thanks for your answer.
Oh that can be done but I'm not sure of that way of updating firmware, I would choose safer method, go to oos and then flash lineage again

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 10, which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

All the source code for LineageOS is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to LineageOS, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    Instructions :
    • Download the latest build and gapps
    • Boot to recovery
    • Flash the latest build
    • Boot to recovery again
    • Flash gapps
    • Reboot

    Downloads :

    Reporting Bugs
    • DO NOT Report bugs if you're running a custom kernel or you installed Xposed
    • Grab a logcat right after the problem has occurred. (Please include at least a few pages of the log, not just the last few lines, unless you know what you're doing.)
    • If it is a random reboot, grab /proc/last_kmsg. (Do not bother getting a logcat unless you can get it just before the reboot. A logcat after a reboot is useless)
    • If the problem disappears after running "setenforce 0" from a root shell, grab /data/misc/audit/audit.log
Remember to provide as much info as possible. The more info you provide, the more likely that the bug will be solved. Please also do not report known issues. Any bug not reported in the bug report format below may be ignored.

    Excellent work @ash4win :highfive:

I tried it the following way coming from OxygenOS with encrypted storage:

    Backup everything off your device!

    1. Remove lockscreen pin from OxygenOS which removes encryption too to prevent mounting issues of internal storage (I'm doing this every time)
    2. Reboot to TWRP
    3. Wipe System and Data partition
    4. Flash Lineage OS
    5. Flash TWRP installer(the same as your TWRP, otherwise you will end up in LineageOS TWRP)
    6. Flash Magisk
    7. Reboot TWRP
    8. Flash Gapps (BIT/Opengapps)
    9. Format data within TWRP
    10. Reboot
    10
    New update is out: Here

    -August Security Patch
    -Fixed statusbar padding on lockscreen
